From rust bucket to vintage dream

in #creativity8 years ago (edited)

Here is a little 'before' and 'after' makeover filled with happy feel good creative vibes.

I like to put something interesting next to my 'SHOP OPEN' sign, on the roadside out the front of my Recycled Gallery. The sort of object that commands attention and evokes curiosity. I want people cruising down the tourist drive to see my sign, then my shop and feel the invitation to explore further. Being a new year, it was time to make something fresh.

I found a very rusty bicycle at the tip and with a little love, cans of spray paint, masking tape and a basket of flowers, turned this heap of junk into something beautiful. This bicycles life has been reclaimed from the scrap pile to serve a glamourous and meaningful purpose for my shop. It is going out the front tomorrow. So you are the first to see it here.

Until next time,

xx Isabella

Great job and, as you say it so well yourself, it is so very inviting. I bet it attracts a lots of eyes, then costumers over to your place too. Have you noticed or got a lot of extra commentaries about it?

Beautiful pictures too, thanks for sharing your work or art. Namaste :)

The wonders of spray paint and a bit of imagination!

I have a new appreciation for people that properly restore old bicycles. Spray paint is awesome but it just hides the flaws :)

It looks great! I have a soft spot for vintage bikes. My main rider is a '59 Raleigh.

Thanks @ericvancewalton. I really want a vintage bike for me to cruise around on. I have seen quite a few new replicas for sale lately but I think the real deal would be fun. Just had to google '59 Raleigh - nice !

You're welcome! I found mine on Craiglist for a real bargain. It took a lot of elbow grease to get it back into shape but it was a fun project. The Raleigh Sports and Superbe models are really solid bikes, built probably better than anything you could get today at any price. It's fun too because there's a huge online community of vintage Raleigh enthusiasts who are more than happy to answer questions and even share spare parts.

This is my '59 Sports

Gorgeous!! I love the blue bike with the pink in the flowers together. My favorite color combo.

It looks very beautiful ;) @bridgetbunchy

What a wonderful job!!
