5 Ways To Wrap A Christmas Gift Without Using Paper

in #christmas8 years ago (edited)

Beautiful gift wrapping does not need to be disposable and detrimental to our environment.  All you need is a bit of love and a few great ideas.

Pretty presents all wrapped up under a Christmas tree is one of the simple joys of the festive season. Gift wrapping that can be re-purposed later is an awesome way to avoid wastage and the wrapping itself becomes an extra gift for the receiver. Double bonus.

If you are stuck for ideas, before you reach for a roll of paper and sticky tape try one of these instead:

1. Fold it up in a festive tea-towel or hand towel.

2. Use a pillow case (vintage ones look adorable too). Fold the case or scrunch the end and tie up with ribbon or hair tie.

3. Wrap it up in a pretty scarf. Look up a furoshiki (a traditional Japanese cloth wrapping technique) for ideas on a cool way to tie tie this together.

4. Put the gift inside a useful storage container - think jars, bowls, baskets. These do not need to be bought new either, you may be surprised with what you already have at home that can be re-used or what you can find second hand.

5. Put the gift inside a re-usable (eco friendly) shopping bag. Long after Christmas is over this bag can be used again and again for shopping and is helping reduce plastic bag consumption in the process.

Until next time,
