Social Media Audiences Change When You Do | PREPARE CORRECTLY

I've been making a living off of social media for about 4 years now, having started 7 years, and I've experienced what happens when you change your personal passions and interests and thus change your content and it's an interesting conundrum. I think a lot of people when they start just get excited and start blasting out content, which is awesome and super fun! The thing that can really help you down the line is to think about whether this content you are creating will be easy and fun for you to create in the future and within different contexts!

If you have a channel based on drinking alcohol and it gets viral and you make a career out of it, will you be able to drink on camera later in life, when you have a family, etc? I say this because I've changed content and the thing that happens is some of the old audience sticks around for the new content but the ones who aren't interested slowly start to trickle away from your content while new audience trickles in from your new content. This sort of cancels the numbers out and can cause you to think you aren't growing or your content is not good enough! IT'S OK! You just have to understand why it's happening and stay calm!

OR if you plan it right you can avoid having an audience change at all, it just takes a bit of planning and thinking out your future but it can really pay off because creating one type of audience and never changing allows you to build on the same type of content forever!
