Friday Fishing: Alternative Float Tube
Many fisherman know of float tubes to fish with, essentially an inner tube with a seat and some bells/whistles added so that you can sit in the water and do your fishing. It is gives you access to more fishing spots than fishing from shore, and but still not as convenient as a boat.
While I do have a float tube, there are times when it is inconvenient to lug it around. One thing I have done a handful of times is to take an adult life vest and turn it into an alternative float tube by putting your legs through the arm holes and sitting in the life vest… you easily float around!
Here is a picture of my doing this while fishing for largemouth bass in a lake:
Whatever works right?! Actually, this is a good way to stay wet and cool, get some exercise and do some fishing, all at the same time!
Have you ever done any similar “alternative” fishing before?

You should come up with a name for your new technique. I would suggest "sink tubing" to distinguish it from float tubing, but I do not think that name will help it catch on.

Hey @brian.rr are you joking saying you used an adult life jacket as a sit and float while fishing. That is something new for me, although I am not a fisher but i also never heard such trick. I can imagine you are more mobile with that. Have you been successful too?

And is that lifeline stable? I have not tried something like that just playing but I want to do it hahaha sounds fun although I probably do not use a fishing rod but I can use it to have fun

I have never fished although in my country there are so many beaches and rivers we do not have access to fishing poles they are expensive but believe me I would love to do it

That's such a cool way of staying afloat. And then you can still have your hands free so you can actually fish. What do you do when you actually catch one though?
Can get tricky getting a fish off... thankfully you can grab a bass by the lip and pull out the hook with the other hand, but the hard part is keeping your fishing reel from getting submerged!
I can imagine. I guess that's why only the pros do it. Guys like me tend to chill on the party barge with a drink in our hand while we troll. :D

I would never had thought that you were actually sitting on an adult life vest had I not read your post. It looks like you're standing with your feet on the bottom of the lake.
I have never done alternative fishing. Lol.
I bet it looks pretty odd to any boat going by as well... probably think I am an amazing swimmer! Ha!
