Dad Tip of the Day: Find your inner creative self to make unique and fun experiences for your kids.
I do not consider myself a very creative person. I tend to think of things as more black and white, and less grey. I know very little about music and the arts, though I do enjoy working with my hands a little bit, which I think is the closest thing to creative that I can attribute to myself.
Those things being said, when it comes to my kids, I try to keep them thinking and switch it up on them so they can learn to be creative and have unique experiences, even it if does not come natural to me.
My artistic talents are limited to coloring between lines. That did not stop me from being creative and making Jacob and Kendra each an original art piece:
To be honest, I could not even color correctly as my wife pointed out my coloring "mistake". QUICK CONTEST: I will give a 15% upvote to the first person to comment and correctly point out my coloring mistake that my wife caught!
I bought some stuff on Amazon (I have an itchy trigger finger when it comes to online purchasing, or really any purchasing, ha!) recently - a blacklight flashlight, some neon tape, and some neon Sharpies.
I then stole a coloring book when they weren't looking, and colored these pictures for them while they were sleeping one night, adding the neon tape border on the edges. When they woke up, I showed them the ordinary looking colorings, but then shut the lights off and used the blacklight flashlight to make them glow!! They loved it of course!!
It got them thinking what they can make for me in return... we shall see what they come up with, but at least their creative muscles are being used and stretched, even if they have a fairly "square" dad! Ha!

PS: I bought the blacklight flashlight to go night hunting for rocks and minerals that might glow in the blacklight... we shall see if my wild thinking leads to a successful hunt or if I wasted more money on things I really didn't need to buy! To be determined!
I believe I found the mistake! One of the unicorn's ears is the wrong color!
Winner winner! I colored my unicorn so that it had two horns and one ear... art fail!! Good job my friend.
Wow reading your post theres this interesting bond between you and your kids, wish to have that someday when i finally bore a child.
PS- i would have never found out the mistake in your colouring if not for the first comment. It all seemed colourful and attractive lol.

Very nice drawings friend @ brian.rrr, I am perfect to paint the drawings with the Neon Sharpies, since turning off the lights is where the magic is and where you can appreciate the beauty of the drawing. Congratulations for your artistic talents, here in the drawings you show it. When reading the quick contest look at the photo quickly and look at the different instantly but I think something late comes hahaha. Blessings and health for your family and for you, friend. Oh do not be late for the contest, I think very late I leave at that time of work and it took me 2 hours to get home, congratulations to the winner it was very easy to see this error, you should ask questions like this often you are very good, with regard to the drawings I think you have creativity I could not make a drawing so I think drawing is not mine
This was very good I could realize at the time of seeing the image that the ear of unicorn good one of the ears of the tin a wrong color hahaha you did without realizing it? even so I think they are a very nice drawing, I like those paintings lately they are very famous I think this will be good to stick on the refrigerator door and by the way I hope you find some treasure with that flashlight
Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That's because they were able to connect experiences they've had and synthesize new things. ..Great creativity in those art...@brian.rrr
