Thursday Green - Thursday Green - Budding Cactus
Cacti still excite my imagination every time I see them, but before the day I took this I don't think I'd ever seen how they grow.
Even though Austin isn't in the desert, we still have long dry stretches. When it finally rains everything grows crazy fast, and the cacti sprout fresh buds as I captured here.

I'm still so intrigued by the contrast between the weathered armor of the old and the fresh rubbery new sprouts. It barely even looks like the same plant.
