TRAVEL TIPS: Hotel Checks
Want to know the very first things you should do when you check into a hotel room?
Here is a quick list!
1). Check the peephole and the dead bolt or other locks to make sure they are not tampered with and are in working order. Then cover the peephole with tape or a rolled up piece of paper. This is a new place for sickos to film you using tiny cameras. Safety first!
2). Open luggage on bathroom floor (after checking to make sure it has been cleaned). Don’t use the bed or the wooden luggage rack either, apparently bed bugs hide anywhere near a host including whatever is nearest to the bed.
3). Wipe down the remote, phone, door knobs and light switches with antibacterial wipes. These items never get cleaned by staff.
4). Check sheets to make sure they have been cleaned, no stains or hairs or anything visible to the naked eye and look out for bed bugs around mattress edges. Also, remove the bedspread, these don’t get cleaned as often as the sheets.
5). If traveling alone, prop the door open as soon as you enter and do a quick sweep of under the bed, in closets and in the bathroom to be sure no intruders are lurking.
