Unusual South-African Landmarks; The Shoe House
The Shoe
Situated in Southern Africa on the Panorama Route where the borders of the majestic Limpopo Province flows into Mpumalanga.
What is the shoe you might wonder?
According to the nursery rhyme it was a place that an old lady lived way before contraceptives were freely available.
However this is not the case!
Although this slightly unusual monument holds great resemblance to the nursery rhyme description, it was in actual fact erected as a landmark, and boasts with a small scale museum of the not so modern day life on the inside, depicting some of the history of the valley. , such as artifacts, tools and furniture from the early day pilgrims of this area can be seen here.
With every small room uniquely decorated you can not help but experience a strong sense of awakening towards your own inner roots, as well as great gratitude for technology as well as family planning!
You will also find an array of artwork exhibited that was done by the (now deceased) founder & owner - Ron van Zyl
The on site tea garden / restaurant caters light lunches and refreshing beverages however should the refreshment lead to inebriation, they also have eight self catering chalets & and a gift shop to prove that you were actually there.
BUT WAIT
THERE'S MORE!
If you carry on reading, you will also find out about the Alpha Omega man made caves that started off as spiritual vision Ron had, and consist of 6 rooms that depict Ron's perception of his spiritual religious beliefs. As well as the seventh room - a Chapel. You know - Cause every man made Spiritual Cave needs one!
