๐ Multiple Steemit Accounts: Yes or No? ๐
๐ Multiple Steemit Accounts: Yes or No? ๐
Perhaps some of you can relate. I live a sort of dual life here on Steemit.
I never expected that one of my primary engagements here would be with the sports community. I am an amateur sports bettor and I love to fool around with a homemade system I've developed. I post my bets and enjoy interacting with other Steemians of similar interest.
But...
My other Steemit friends have ZERO interest in these posts. Sometimes I feel like my daily sports posts get in the way, discouraging my non-sports friends from visiting my blog. I also post about wine frequently, and occasionally other topics like food, gaming, cigars, etc., but these sometimes don't seem to receive much attention. I'm guessing because they're buried in the sports material.
Recently, my youngest daughter (@noexpatations), who is living in France (and now Belgium for the next month) wanted a Steemit account but was having difficulty receiving the confirmation text on her phone. This prompted me to explore other ways she could get started and I ran across a method in which I could create an account, delegate Steem Power to it, and get her up and running. It worked, and then it got me to thinking...
Are there any ethical reasons why I shouldn't set up a second account? I know others have, and they've done so for a specific, productive purpose. Would upvoting one account for good content with the other be over the line? Does anybody care? Should I care what other's think in that regard?
Of course, then there's the issue of splitting up my modest amount of Steem Power between two accounts. That would, in effect, water down both accounts, and represent a step back in my ability to curate the content that my friends post and I support, regularly. I suppose there's some advantage in having two accounts, with effectively twice the amount of upvotes to give daily. That, of course, means upwards of twice the amount of time on Steemit. As it is, I've tried to more efficiently interact here instead of spending hours a day wandering around, like I did before. I DO have other things to do with my time. lol
My inclination, so far, has been to go ahead and set up a second account primarily for my sports activity and spare my many other friends the clutter of those posts. If it doesn't work out, I can always undelegate the SP and abandon the second account. I guess it's akin to having both a personal and a business email or checking account... Does that make sense?
So, with all that, do you have any thoughts on the matter? What makes the most sense? What's ethical? What's the most practical approach?
Looking forward to your feedback, suggestions, and points of view, as always...
I've been thinking about the same thing myself. I really like to follow based on specific topics and steemit has no function to filter your feed on this which is the reason I stick to 1 main topic myself (I like it clean and consistent). Been thinking about making a 2nd steemit blog focussed on health and psychology, but it's mainly the lack of time that keeps me from doing it. I don't see anything wrong with having multiple accounts as long as they are used properly.
Good luck!
Thanks for your feedback, man. I appreciate it.
I'm going to chew on this for a bit longer, but I think I'll be headed in that direction. I like the concept of a sports-only type outlet and think that I could more successfully grow a following that way...
No. One accound is more interesing. I love the sports men jaja.
I don't think there's anything wrong with having more than 1 account, especially if they both serve different purposes. I've thought about making another just for the hell of it, but I'm not going to until I have a purpose behind it. No point in having 2 accounts if I'm going to post similar content
I think itโs totally fine man. Especially say ones directly just sports related stuff.. betting, daily news, your predictions etc. That way people who enjoy sports can follow that account.
Then you can have your other account thatโs your day to day like and other regular hobbies! I donโt think I ever will since I just post a bit of everything and if people like it then awesome, and if Iโm not there cup of tea then totally understandable!
So if you want Iโd say go for it man!
Thanks for your input; I appreciate it!
I donโt see a problem in setting up a second account however I donโt find that your sports posts clutter things up too much.
I actually run a second account as well. I only transferred a small amount of SP to it though since I wasnโt sure about what I was doing when I set it up.
Now that the account is up and running I buy upvotes for the account rather than transfer more Steem Power. That also helps get the account exposure and a quick boost in rep.
Like you said though, my second account serves a purpose. And is a service rather than account where I post about beer, wine, photography and the other stuff I write about.
It has increased how much time I spend on Steemit. And I try to post on both accounts once a day each if I have the time.
Itโs actually quite fun. But so far my second account only has a tiny amount of SP so there isnโt much use in using itโs voting power for anything.
Thanks, @mazzle. What's your other account if you don't mind my asking? And if you do, no worries! lol
I'll see if I can find a way to let you know what it is without saying on here what it is :P
I keep them seperate. And don't really want to make it too obvious what the account is. Although if you do a little digging I'm sure you could work it out. :)
