1500 Followers on Steemit!
I'm very pleased to have over 1500 Followers on Steemit now, just six+ months after joining this community!
Meeting people from all over the world has been such a fantastic experience - Australia, Bali, Mexico, the Philippines, Belgium, Norway... The list goes on and on and on... Learning about your lives, your daily life, food, religion, and traditions has been eye-opening and educational. Making connections with lovely people around the globe has been heartwarming. Thank you, Steemit, for making all of this possible!
It wouldn't be an authentic Steemit Milestone post without a few statistics... Here's how things stack up 180+ days in:
- 1549 Followers
- 1817 People I'm Following
- 56.53 Rep Score
- 1994 Total Comments & Posts
- 251 Posts
- 391.7 Steem Power (78% of the way to Sliderville!)
- 0 Cash Outs
For those of you just starting out, here's a few tips for Steemit Success:
- Comment, comment, comment on good quality posts. Real comments, not just: Nice post.
- Use your Upvotes wisely. Limit yourself to 10-15 per day to maintain your precious voting power!
- Follow back those who follow you. Don't Unfollow People! (It's rude, and no one really cares how many followers you have.)
- Reply to people who comment on your posts. Engage with those who have taken time to respond to your comment or post. Build some reader loyalty.
- Upvote quality comments on your posts. Keep folks coming back for more.
- Avoid most of the vote bots. Buying votes doesn't really add much in my opinion (other than boosting your Rep Score.)
- Either craft quality original material, or post information that people whom follow you are interested in.
- HAVE FUN! Make friends. Enjoy Steemit for what it is: a community.
Finally, you can do your part by inviting friends and family to the platform. The more new users here, the better the platform will ultimately become.
Thanks all of you that have made Steemit such a vibrant, educational, fun, and funny place for me to hang out in. In addition to sports handicapping, I blog about wine, food, travel, and have begun to publish some original writing projects, too. You might say I'm continuing to find my audience and interests here.

Thanks again, Steemit! I'm looking forward to 2000 Followers in the near future. Cheers!

Congrats!
Your advice is spot on, especially on the bots. I've been experimenting a bit in the recent weeks. The only profit you make is a boost in reputation.
If you have a lot of SBD, the bots can be used to push your post to trending page. I belive that's how most of them end up there.
Have fun and enjoy your Bourbon and Cigar!
It's a sad thing to see Steemit being all about upvote bots these days. The system is a bit broken right now and almost forces bigger accounts to sell their votes while smaller accounts need to buy them to get some kind of post earnings and reputation.
It would be nice if curation was fixed by also giving curators SBD instead of only SP.
Some changes are needed.
Just look at the trending pages. Same authors each and every day paying for votes to be there.
Curation as the way to make $$$ on steemit is a joke. I'm sure, there's someone who's found a way to do it profitably, but still. The mainstream on steemit is buying votes. The fact that there are whole communities dedicated to finding and promoting quality content speaks volumes.
Writing and curating good content is almost an underground movement.
Since I've joined steemit.com, the price of STEEM has halved. Sure, the BTC crash was part of it, but the part of it is the way the things are right now. The steemit as an idea and the steemit as it is are two different worlds.
Thanks, @beat-the-bookies. Playing the bots is worth exploring but I always come back to this same conclusion. Best to build a cache of loyal, active supporters and friends. It's more fun and fulfilling that way, anyway. Bots don't drink much beer. Cheers!
Indeed, they don't :-) Cheers!
I like your clean attitude to the community.
(you have a new follower) :-))
Thank you! Right back at ya!
Nice to see you going strong Braveboat !
I'm working towards my fist 1000 :)
Some quality tips right there, more people should take those to heart. Good luck reaching that slider, it really makes a big difference.
Thank you, @costanza! I am all about getting my hands on that slider. Upvoting makes me feel like I'm wearing a straightjacket without it. You're left to ration out support, this impeding the amount of followers you can support and keep in the active fold...
Congrats on hitting that milestone!
Your tips are very usefull but more importantly it shows you are a true gentleman and have the right vision and attitude for this community.
I'm sure 2k will be only a matter of time!
Well done! Just seen this now been a little busy the past few days but still trying to keep building on the platform!
I think you missed Canada, and Denmark on your list ;) just bugging...
Glad your enjoying yourself with some Bourbon and a Cigaro!! Cheers to 1500 and 2000 soon to come!
Love me some Canada (my direct neighbor to the north!)
Congratulations braveboat! Very much deserved after all the hard work you've put into it :-) a true steemian!
Thank you, my dear!
