Whatever happened to Jeti Knight?

in #blog6 years ago (edited)

I feel kind of icky about name dropping someone in one of my post. But I'm not a youtuber, and I blog infrequently. But I've had thoughts about this former Bitconnect promoter, and maybe this is just my way of getting them out in the open. I just want to mention that I was in Bitconnect, but I never really promoted it. I just had money in it, I felt it was scam, but I figured I could make some money while it was running. But I never thought it would last or was sustainable, so I never got anyone involved. And I never had anyone sign up underneath me.

But with that said, I sat on the fence about bitconnect for months before I joined. I saw many promoters of the platform, many just shilling it to get people to join under them. But I really never heard any measured, logical, or technical reason to be involved. That was until I ran into Jeti Knight.

Now Jeti Knight is mostly forgotten after the entire Bitconnect exit scam. While the focus is on the top 4 big promoters like Craig Grant, or Treven James. There were other big promoters of the platform as well. Trevon James and Craig Grant appealed to a certain audience. They had big personalities, they put themselves in the front of cameras at any given moment, and they were marketers and hype men. It's easy to get caught up in their personalities, but for people who had been around the block a few times, like myself, you were mostly immune to them. Being some larger than life personality wouldn't be enough to get the cynical crowd to get with the scheme. Enter Jeti Knight.

Jeti Knight was very different than the Trevon Jame's, Crypto Nicks, and Craig Grants of the cryptospace. He was a mostly easy going, calm speaking person who would often respond to critics of bitconnect. He would often break down why maybe sometimes worked and why it didn't. But the key is, he went into greater detail and greater depth into how bitconnect was able to work. He didn't seem too bombastic about his support or the platform. Only that it worked for him, and from his own logic there was very little reason to worry. Jeti Knight was basically the pilot of a plane with a lot of turbulence. While the flight attendents are telling you to calm down. Jeti Knight is the pilot who will tell you what's happening with the plane, and why there is no reason to panic.

Now I'm not here to blame Jeti Knight for me losing money in bitconnect. The reality is I got all my money back, and I really didn't care once the exit scammed. I had only reinvested one other time outside of my initial investment, and I got that any my initial investment back. What I am here to address is his lack of integrity. See the issue is when you take a position of being the "straight man" in a space and a platform full of shysters and conmen, you have to show some level of speak up at some point. Jeti Knight basically went missing from youtube the minute Bitconnect exit scammed. There was never an apology video. There was never a followup saying "he was wrong". It was just "gone". Even Crypto Nick acknowledge what had happened, as well as many other youtubers. Even Trevon James and Craig Grant admitted it basically was a scam, and that they're sorry it went away. Jeti Knight issues nothing, zero, zilich. It was just a here today, and gone tomorrow situation.

The funny thing is, while I always knew he was just shilling the platform. I always thought part of him felt it was legit, hence is logical breakdowns of what was occurring. He was also the main face who would debate bitconnect detractors on their channels, where other promoters almost ignored the skeptics. He seemingly had a healthy relationship with all of the anti bitconnect channels, even if they were on opposite sides of the debate. The bottomline he presented himself as a man of logic, with good knowledge of the markets who was making an educational and measured decision to support the platform and defend it. He was probably the top 5 most visible bitconnect promoter, but the difference is that he seemed much more engaged with the community as a whole.

Jeti Knight made only a handful of videos after the Bitconnect exit scam. Most them being 30 second "update videos" where he didn't weight in at all on what had just happened. And then he completely stopped making videos period, never acknowledging bitconnect as a scam, and never appearing anywhere else on youtube. After awhile he took down all of his videos, and his channel has been dormant since probably a week after bitconnect exit scammed.

I personality think Jeti Knight represents everything that's wrong with scams and ponzi schemes. Sure scams are going to be pumped by it's promoters. I get it. But at least promoters present themselves and promoters and marketers. When you watch Trevons James, you know what you're getting. A guy promoting whatever he's promoting. You can take it for what it is. But most people who aren't naive can see it for what it is. But Jeti Knight is the type of promoter who tells a story. He was never a bitconnect or youtube promoter. He was a man, who had a skeptical mind, who came to a realization about the beauty of the platform through hard research and analysis. And that's the problem. The story he was telling is "hey, you see all these fly-by-night promoters, yeah. I'm not one of them, I'm one of you. I'm just a normal guy interacting with the platform, and look at how it's working". To me that's the most deceptive practice. It's actually fairly manipulative. Because he never was just a guy, he was a shameless shill for the platform. I felt Jeti Knight was a character moreso than a person.

Anyway, this is not to call out Jeti Knight or anything like that. I just had to really air my issues with him, his shameless promotion, and his silence. While the focus on bitconnect is on the "big players", I think guys like Jeti Knight slip through the cracks. I found him a far more effective manipulator than any of the top 4 promoters ever werebitconnect-crypto-1-750x431.png
