Why Stellar Lumens ($XLM) Is Positioned For A Huge 2018

Let us start with the facts about Stellar Lumens ($XLM):

○ Stellar is the blockchain technology; a shared ledger on a distributed database
○ XLM is the 3 character short code for "Lumens", which are the native asset of the Stellar network
○ There is a total supply of 100 billion lumen, of which approximately 18 billion are in circulation
○ The goal of Stellar Lumen is to assist with the transfer of currency and eliminate borders, wait times, and high costs normally associated with financial transactions
○ They've partnered with IBM to provide economically viable cross-border payments
○ One of the founders is Jed McCaleb (formerly founder of Ripple, and founder of Mt. Gox; pre-scandal)

On its website, Stellar Lumens advertises itself as an open-sourced, distributed payments infrastructure, built on the premise that the international community needs “a worldwide financial network open to anyone.” Stellar Lumens will fill this need, connecting individuals, institutions, and payment systems through its platform.

In doing so, the Stellar Lumen’s team wants to make monetary transactions cheaper, quicker, and more reliable than they are under current systems.

Another unique feature about the platform is the function of its private and public ledger working hand & hand to settle transactions & clearing technology of their blockchain. It allows connectivity of fiat currencies to settle transactions digitally without ever having to buy the cryptocurrency.

Lets go over some more material information:

○ The current market cap is nearly $11 billion, making it the the 7th largest token on the planet
○ Its a real project, with a real team, and a functional utility; THIS appeases the savvy investor
○ Because the amount of tokens is abundant, the price point is low per token (Currently $.59 USD); THIS appeases the casual/undereducated investors with the dream of big returns (this is more speculation on my point than fact, as it taps into human psychology and thought-processes, but it is very important to market sentiment and excitement)
○ It is solving a real world problem to under-banked countries and fixing major banking issues: cost, speed, reliability
○ Its offering near-instant private transactions across borders, with minimal cost, along with the ability to convert fiat-token or token-fiat
○ Stellar network is capable of supporting other tokens, projects, and ICOs; these projects will capitalize on its low-cost transaction fees, network speed, and security
○ The network speed is significantly faster, cheaper, and more reliable than those of Bitcoin and Ethereum, which allows for major scale. [See the chart below]

Overall, this is one of my favorite projects in crypto right now for many, many reasons. Looking forward to seeing what 2018 has in store for Stellar.
