Best Of India Contest Entry • Your favourite Indian food

Hello everyone, this is my contest submission post for Best of India's contest "Your favourite Indian food". So let's get started...

Being an Assamese, I have always admired the ethnic cuisine of my land. Having said that I have also got good taste buds for spicy dishes of the north India. I can't single out one particular dish as my favourite because every next dish becomes my favourite most often. So today I am going to talk about 'one of my favourite dishes.'

On Monday this week (23rd Aug), me and two of my old school buddies met after about 5 months. We decided to go to the fine-dine restaurant nearby named 'MUGHAL TEHZEEB', which was convenient to reach for all three of us. It was around 2pm, perfect time for lunch.

We made ourselves comfortable on the table allotted to us. I proposed that we shouldn't waste time going through the menu and go for BUTTER NAAN and MUTTON KOSHA straight away. Within 15-20 minutes, we got our food on the table. So we started digging in. We also ordered a bowl of DAL FRY to level up the spicyness if required. Rice was already out of the equation for us that afternoon.

Wow. That feeling when I took the first bite of butter naan smeared with the thick mutton kosha gravy was just amazing. Oh boy! Oh boy!

The richness of the spices and colour adds a different dimension to the gravy. The butter naan also looked to be freshly prepared, not from leftover wheat overnight.

Very soon we ran out of bread. Also all three of us were only half full. So we decided to go for another round of food. This time we got ourselves RUMALI ROTI and another platter of MUTTON KOSHA. Although my friends were a little worried about us exceeding the budget that we normally fix for ourselves, but I assured them of all possible help. We kept ransacking the food.

We enjoyed our meal. Finally the waiter brought us the bill. It amounted to 1453 INR (19.69 USD at the time of writing this post). After paying the bill and leaving a tip for the waiter, we left.

This was a hearty lunch with friends I have had after ages and it was so satisfying from all perspectives. None of us had any complaints. Also as foodies, me and my friends often try to hang out over good food.
