Steemit Engagement Challenge S3-W2: Impacts of Technology in kids lives by @bossj23 || 28-7-22

Little Maggaux and Celyn were given an assignment in school to do a research and submit the next day. After school, Maggaux had to search for old books or artifacts to derive the answer and before she got the answer, it was already 2Am in the morning whereas Celyn had a mobile phone and processed the research answers in minutes and then slept early.

What am I trying to say? You'll know soon. I'm a kid to start with and this engagement challenge topic is about Technology and Me as a kid. Not so? Why are we called the 21st century children? Does technology have a role to play in this course? I can vividly remember when I was much younger, probably in my 14's.

We usually have debates on topics like this and one of such topic is Technology does more harm than good in a child's life. Why are children the center of focus today when it comes to technology?

Let's look at the advancements of technology in the world as a whole first before talking about the impact of technology in kids lives.

Write an overview of how technology has impacted the world as a whole

Undoubtedly, none of us would say we haven't in one way or another benefited from technology. In fact, the world is technologically inclined and will continue to be making life easier and comfortable for humans.

Everything you see in the world today is technology. Technology is a powerful tool that makes our work easier, more efficient and enjoyable.

• The use of fertilizers, machines, pesticides and the likes which are products of technology has increased the supply of food and nutrition for the masses.

• Advancement in medical sector has made it possible for a better health and a long life span for the masses to abound. Back in the years, people die due to some major illness or problems because of unavailability of technologies that would solve that...

• The automobiles, development in electronics, satellites, computers and airplane have made it possible for the masses to travel to distant places within a short period of time and to communicate with others around the globe with ease without going to a telephone line or mailbox to leave a message.

• Technology has also made a great impact on work and employment as it makes people do things with ease.

It's very much obvious that everything has advantages and Disadvantages. Technology is no exemption. The usefulness of technology as a whole is much more than the disadvantages. Even with all the good things Adam and Eve were given, they misuse that good thing.

Technology is also misused today even with its numerous advantages. Just as a wire has a positive and negative charge, Technology has positive and negative charge too.

Positivity

• Creativity: Technology has really helped a child develop creative skills such as writing, searching for words to be fluent both in writing and speaking and also kids have constructed drones, toy cars and airplanes because they had a tutorial on their mobile devices on how this can be done. In fact, there are apps that teaches children how to cook easily, sew and also draw

• Entrepreneurial spirit: Today, there are many online business, digital skills and professional courses that pays and this can only be accomplished through technological devices. With these devices, you can become an entrepreneur on your own.

You learn courses like web designing and mobile development. All these courses and digital skills is what the world operates on because with technological devices, you won't be able to sign up in Steemit. I won't be here in Steemit if not because if my phone.

• Learning enhancement; Like I said earlier, learning is effectively carried out through technological devices and databases and results of students are input there with ease without saving them up in files because anything can happen.

Technology helped Celyn do her assignment with ease without needing to search for old books or just leave the question unanswered because of not knowing what to do. It enhances the speed of learning and kids develop their brains from the things the search for using technology.

They get answers, do research, find solutions to problems and even essay topics. All these won't be possible without technogy

• Independent learners

• Less concentration: Technologies like phones, laptops and the likes are becoming a sidetrack to kids learning today. Many would come back from school And become engrossed in his phone, forgetting he has assignments or books to read.

Some even use these Technological devices to play video games for hours, enter social media and the rest that the lose concentration. There are times you call a kid and he snubs you because he's engrossed in his device.

• Have trouble focusing on one task: Social Media has made many become addicts that even in the kitchen, you'll see a kid with phone. When he's washing plates, phone and he'll remain there until he finishes chatting before he wash the clothes.

If he had left the phone, he would have finished washing those clothes and still go back to his phone.

• Exposed to pornography whether or not by choice: Today's entertainment is basically on pornographic setting that you'll see people half naked or completely naked or you see some brazen conducts.

These are what the world is pursuing and they want to have fans to it that's why they display it on social media and in movies we watch so that our minds can be defiled.

How would you rate the impact of technology in kids lives? Highly positive or negative?

To me I rate the impact of Technology on a child's life positive. Let's imagine there was no steemit platform and Even if there was, we wouldn't have the technologies to be here today and I can confidently say many hads benefited from this platform including me.

Many have achieved easy lives, financial independence because of steemit. Me personally, I've achieved improvement on my writing skills and some other things. All thanks to Technology.

• Take a look at the medical sector, lives would have been at stake because it's Technology that's used in producing those drugs we take which are the sold in a chemist shop. It's Technology that's used to solve many complicated problems which wouldn't be solve b

Can you have control over the exposure of kids to certain Technological products? How?

The answer is yes. Parents can actually have control over the exposure of kids to certain Technological products by checking on their child's phone or device periodically so as to monitor the usage of their children's Technological devices which can be both beneficial and disadvantageous.

• Banning devices at the dinner table is very essential to control the usage of Technological devices because kids of nowadays find it very comfortable eating and at the same time using technological devices to eat access social media, play games or watch movies.

• Set time limits for daily usage: Many children overlook the time their children spend using technological devices because they may feel they are entertaining themselves or making money but there's actually time for everything.

Conclusion

I hope with all I've said, Technology has proven to be advantageous and disadvantageous to kids but has really impacted the lives of kids and as such, has impacted mine as a kid.
