Today, I'm reviewing a Belgian beer called Rebel Local from the brewery Brouwerij 't Verzet. It's a Belgian IPA, quite strong one, 8,5%. I have never really fancied Belgian IPAs, but I wanted to give it a shot!
Brouwerij 't Verzet is a small Belgian micro brewery started by three friends in 2011. At first, they made their beer at other breweries. After many years of hard work, they finally officially inaugurated their own brewery in 2016.
Appearance: hazy golden color with a small white head.
Smell: malty, belgian hops, some spices.
Mouthfeel: medium body, medium carbonation.
Taste: hops, belgian yeast, spicy notes ,slightly alcoholic.
I bet this is a good Belgian IPA, according to "Untappd" it has a score of 3.42/5 which is quite good! But I haven't really ever liked Belgian IPAs and this beer wasn't anything special either. I can drink it but I certainly wouldn't buy this beer again. Belgian IPAs are usually not as hoppy as American IPAs, I think that's the reason why I prefer the latter one. I will give it a rating 2.75 out of 5.
