Last years habanero plants

in #gardening6 years ago

Here's a little experiment I did with some of my habanero plants. These were both the same age and roughly the same size at the end of last summer when I brought them inside to overwinter. The plant in the first pic was just placed in a well lit area of my house with a south facing window, while the second plant was placed underneath a cheap LED grow light. The first plant didn't grow much at all over the winter and has very few leaves, while the second plant basically resembles a small bush and has buds popping up all over the place. The difference is pretty crazy in person. I'm glad I managed to keep these plants alive throughout the winter and got to learn a few things about plants along the way.

Once I get the majority of my vegetables outside for the summer, I plan on starting a few more experiments like hydroponic vs soil, DWC vs Kratky, maybe trying different brands of nutrients, and eventually get a different brand of LED light as well as a High Pressure Sodium to compare as well.
