Not a day without holidays!
June 22 - Friday
Day of the Skipper the Serpent (Serpent's Day)
After Perun's birth, Skiper the Serpent came to the Russian Land. He buried the baby Perun in a deep cellar and carried his sisters to Navy:
I live, Marena and Lelyu are goddesses of life, death and love. That is not dust in the field is sprayed, No fog from the sea rise, Then from the eastern land, from high mountains Running herd animal, That the animal herd is a snake. A fierce Skipper-beast ran ahead! "The Veda of Perun"
Then Perun will be released by Veles, Horse and Stribog, and he will defeat the Skipper-beast. And these days, when the Skiper beast comes to the Russian land with its host, many see wandering ghosts, signs of death and misfortune. Suddenly, in the fields there appear mouse packs and wolf packs, crows' clouds fly over. And if you bow your ear to the ground, you can hear the Mother of the Cheese, the Earth, moaning. And otherwise it seems that the fire runs through the winter field.
The nav is especially strong, and therefore in Russia these days awaited enemy invasions. In history, there is evidence for this: the Patriotic War of 1812 (June 24), and the Great Patriotic War of 1941 (June 22) began near the day of the Skipper-Serpent.
Legends about Perun and Skeper were sung on that day by the Magi in the Vedic temples and called on the believers to rivers and lakes to perform sacred ablutions in order to be cleansed of their sins.
According to the folk calendar, this day fell on the period of snake weddings. It is believed that at this time the snakes slide and go by train to the serpentine wedding. In many settlements there are still "damned places", so-called "snake hills".
