Yesterday Jericho fell in your backyard
The echoes of the horns still shake the foundation of your home
Yesterday, you looked forward to today
Today was the future decked in silence
Pregnant with unspoken words
Friends not yet met
Handshakes exchanged between strangers
Yesterday you dreamt of better beginnings
The accordion reverberating
Beautiful melodies of soothing promises
And butterscotch kisses
Right within your reach
Yesterday you were fortifying your home
Against the unavoidable impending storm
And spreading out your kilts for cold nights in December
Yesterday you were preparing do today
Things you could have done yesterday
An extreme procrastinator of what is, what can be and what will be
Forgetting that yesterday once today and today was once tomorrow
It's unavoidable
Nature's inevitable cycle
