RE: Jungle Injustice

in #busy7 years ago

A sad story which has replayed over time in our society, and unfortunately do not seem to be abating.
I can only hope that the future generations will perceive life as being very precious, and not be apt to condemning anyone to jungle justice, no matter the crime committed.
I am not blaming the woman whose garri was stolen, as I remember many years ago, some burglars gained access to our home which was being constructed at the time, and stole every valuable they could lay their hands on. As luck would run out on them, they did the same to another person, and were caught. This caused them to take the robbers to their hideout where other stolen properties were recovered, including my dads. One of the robbers escaped, while the remaining one was beaten mercilessly. Afterwards, they asked that he be given cement to drink so he could die. But my dad begged endlessly that he should not be made to die. Despite the crowd, he refused to give in and wouldn't let them kill the man. He was eventually let go, and was limping badly as he walked away naked and disgraced.

I wish we could all maintain our firmness if we ever come across such a situation, and also help change the mindset of people regarding jungle justice.
God bless us all.
And God bless Nigeria.
