I am @bolaji001 and I will be continuing my consistent participation in this Season's engagement challenge by the Steemit team. I must say, it is a great contest idea as it gives us a chance to really testify and share to the world how rewarding and benefiting the Steemit platform really is and how it has helped we Steemians improve in many aspects of our lives. Write briefly and clearly how you first got to know Steemit and why you decided to join the Steemit platform.

HOW I GOT TO KNOW ABOUT STEEMIT

It all began on a fateful afternoon many months ago, I saw my friend, @ojerindejoel blogging on Steemit. I then proceeded to asking him what he was doing and what platform this is. He explained in detail how everything works on Steemit including how I have to join the Newcomers' Community, get through writing my achievement posts, how Steemit rewards you in a cryptocurrency (Steem) for writing and posting original quality content. I was wowed and stunned; I was really surprised that there is a platform like this out there. I gave it a really deep thought for few days as I have to figure out a way to balance blogging on Steemit and my hectic school schedule. After careful consideration and self-promise to be disciplined with my time management and to balance my studies with Steemit activities, I approached my friend again that I am ready to take this big step, joining Steemit.

My friend being a very calm and good teacher really helped me get started on Steemit. He introduced me to my country's (Nigeria) representative on Steemit, Ma @ngoenyi. She added me to a telegram group solely meant for Steemians in Nigeria to help one another with any issue we might face on Steemit, she also introduced and encouraged me to join the @steemalive community, this was the first community I joined on Steemit aside the Newcomers' Community. With the help of my friend, Ma @ngoenyi and other Steemians on the group I was able to get through completing my achievement posts and getting comfortable on this rewrding platform.
Thanks to them, I am forever grateful.

WHY I DECIDED TO JOIN STEEMIT

After I got introduced to Steemit and the Steemit blockchain, I took it upon myself to go for more research on how the platform works. I found out that there are many communities and each of them are solely for a particular purpose and field of study and users who upload quality and original content in these communities were curated by Steemit curators and rewarded in the Steem cryptocurrency.

I also saw that Steemit is a very educative platform and I needed to broaden my knowledge in many fields of study. I noticed that I can learn a lot about the cryptocurrency world especially on the SteemitCrypto Academy Community, improve my cooking skills by exploring the @steemitfoods community and learn more about entrepreneurship and business on the @steempreneurship community.

After all this research, I was convinced that the Steemit platform is not one of these "get rich quick" PONZI platforms but a true rewarding platform that has come to stay and dominate in the near future. So, I had all my doubts cleared and I decided to join.

Write in detail how Steemit and Steem change your life for the better, both for yourself personally, family, friends or society with the charity activities you do with steem.

HOW STEEMIT AND STEEM CHANGED MY LIFE

Steemit has helped me in so many ways than I could have imagined;
First of all, my writing and typing skills have improved a lot. Due to the many posts I have had to write on the Steemit platform, my writing skills has improved greatly. I now know how to carefully plan and outline the content I want to post, the key points that must be included in the post, the flow pattern of the post and how to structure the entire post correctly to look presentable using the appropriate markdowns etc.
I upload most of my posts using my laptop, so I have gotten a lot better at typing and can now type more accurately and fast. My vocabulary has also improved greatly I can also now spell so many words that normally I would have ignored.

Secondly, I have learnt how to create an original post because here on Steemit plagiarism is very punishable offense and attracts huge punishment. I have learnt how to research very efficiently, source for information and not plagiarize at the same time. I really love this skill I have developed as it is helping me greatly even in my school research project, making me score high and significantly improving my CGPA.

Lastly and even most importantly, earning. Money is a great necessity in the life of man, we are constantly wanting something, needing something and these wants and needs most times can only be met with money.
On Steemit, I have earned a lot in Steem and traded this Steem cryptocurrency to my country's currency to satisfy my never ending wants and needs.
I would give you an instance, there was a time I needed to buy a course on Udemy to continue building learning web development.

The course was about $12, but I knew I had no problem because as at that time I had enough Steem in my wallet that I can convert to dollars to purchase the course. I eventually did this and purchased the course. I gave this particular example, because purchasing the course really helped me understand JavaScript (one of the core languages of the web) and pushed me steps closer into being a professional Web developer.

This is just one of the many times Steemit has come to my aid whenever I need money.

HOW I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO HELP FAMILY, FRIENDS OR THE SOCIETY

Though I have benefited and earned on Steemit, I would still say I have not earned too much yet but in the way I can, I still try to assist my family members and friends when they come to me for help. I also encouraged them to join Steemit too and told them that it is the best way I can help them and truly speaking it is.

About charity activities, I am philanthropic in nature, I love to give out when I have excess and even when I do not have too much. As at the time of writing, I have not organized or done any charity activities but as I grow on this amazing platform, I would surely do some charity activities and help my community.

In conclusion, Steemit is an amazing and rewarding platform as I have said many times already throughout this post, I cannot emphasize it enough. Thanks to my friend @ojerindejoel, @ngoenyi and others for introducing me to Steemit and helping me get started on this platform, I am very grateful.
I have grown and improved so much in many aspects of my life. All I can say is THANK YOU STEEMIT and I pray Steemit and the Steemit blockchain continue to soar high among other blockchain out there.
