Zahir Raihan

Zahir Raihan was born in majipur village in feni district in 1935. His full name is Mohammad Zahirullah Khan He married twice in his life. In 1961 he married Sumita Devi and in 1966 he married again Suchanda . Both are famous film actress on the time. He has three children. In 1947 he came to Bangladesh from Kolkata due to the partition of country.
He is very talented person. But he was missing after the liberation war. 1992 he was not found.

Career

Zahir Raihan was well educated person. He has a Master degree in Bangla literature. He was a journalist in his early life. In this early life he was working in Yuger Alo as a Journalist. After that he works in film. In 1955, his first story book was published. The books is called Suryagahan. In 1957 he first worked a film called "Jago hua savera" as an assistant. He was hard working and very initiative person. 1961 he first made his directorial debut in the film called "Kokhno asheni". He is the man who made first Pakistan's color film by "Sangam".

In 1952 when our country fight for our language. Zahir Raihan always actively involved. He made a famous film called"Jibon theke newa", in this film he revealed the effect of Language movement. In 1971 when the liberation war started he went to Kolkata and He started making documentaries for the independence of Bangladesh.

when Bangladesh gets victory then he came to Bangladesh and began looking for his brother named Shahidullah Kaiser who was missing before 1971. Zahir Raihan went to Mirpur for his brother. But there was evidence that he was killed by some of Pakistani army who were hiding.

Award and Honors

Zahir Raihan received many award after his death.

• 1972 he got Adamji Sahitya Puraskar for his Novel "Hazar Bochor Dhore"
• 1975 he got Nigar Award for his Bengali Film called "Kacher dewal"
• he also received Bangla Academic and Bangla Academic Literary Award for his contribution of Bangla literary.

During his short life he doing great work. His famous novels are

• Sesh bikal er meye:

His novel his first novel. In 1960 it was first published. this novel is a romantic love story.

• Hazar Bochor Dhore

this is my most favorite novel. I also watch this film. This novel was published in 1964 and after that in 2005 a movie was made based on this novel.

• Arek Falgun

This is also a amazing Novel he write in 1969. This novel he write based on Language movement

• Borof Gola Nodi

I love this Novel. He also published this novel in 1969. The story of the helplessness of a decaying middle class family that has collapsed due to economic reasons.

He also write so many stories and he also write documentary in newspapers. He also makes films. But the number is only four.

Zahir Raihan works as a director, producer, writer and screenwriter. He was multi talented. i love him when i read his novel Hazar bochor Dhore.

Hazar Bachor Dhore Is a Bangla Novel. Zahir raihan write this novel in 1964. In 2005 a movie was made on this novel with same title. This novel is my favorite. By reading this novel i know how look our ancient life, how women tortured by husband that time. People suffer a lot. In this novel i also find a love story. But end of the movie the love has turn into sad. From this Novel i learn, people has a lot of sincerity towards each other. Overall, this movie or books pleasing your eyes. And interestingly you can not focus on anything else without finishing this novel.

This movie won national award and also win Merial Prothom Alo Award. This the greatest movie all time in our country.

Why he is my favorite

Finally, i just want to say there are so many greatest writer in our country. everyone has so many novel. According to them Zahir raihan is my favorite.There are few reason why i love his books.Here they are.

• His novel and story pleasing my eyes. Most importantly his writing everything easy to understand. I reads his some novels and few stories.
• His content was really good. He writings reflected the situations. Such as Arek Falgun This is novel he write based on Language movement.
• His novel is interesting. there is a kind of sweetness in his writing.
