Best ways to study for an exam!
As a teenager who is busy studying for the GED test, I am constantly trying to find ways that are going to help me retain information better. There a lot of ways to study but only a few that actually work for me personally.
In this post I am going to share a few good tips for studying that have worked for me so far and will hopefully work for you too!
Always make sure that you understand what you're reading. If you don't understand the work then how are you going to be able to retain all the information you are supposed to? It's so much better when you are able to respond to a question with confidence rather than just winging it and hoping for the best.
Plan to study before hand and set up your study space. You'll feel very much at ease when you know that you've got it all prepared.
Don't overdo it. Take breaks in between studying. You'll be more alert and be able to retain more information when you take time to relax a bit.
Use colour pens to make notes! Colour just so happens to be the brain's most powerful stimulus. Research has shown that it can enhance your memory performance when there's a pop in colour. When I'm busy writing my notes down I usually write down the stuff I feel like are extremely important to know with a red pen.
Set a reminder to study and make a study schedule. This will keep you in track.
Unfortunately, there are times where quite a lot of us try to revise a lot of the work the day before writing a test/assessment. The day prior to writing a test is actually when you should just relax and get enough rest so that you are able to concentrate. It's honestly the best thing you can do for yourself.
Thank you for reading!
