FAK YouTube!

I have a small YouTube channel where I upload various videos of all sorts of things. Most of my videos are gun related and I'm either just showing a particular piece or I might be shooting one on my range.

Well, here recently several of my peers from the guitar community have been asking me if I have heard about YouTube's new rules pertaining to guns and other things. I admit that I did receive some emails about that stuff but I could care less because I do not get paid anymore since they changed the monetization rules, so I blew them off with the other junk mail.

Apparently YouTube is not only cracking down on censoring firearms on their platform but also things related to canabis. Yeah, good luck with that one YouTube! How can they do this and get away with it? Because the majority of the people lets them! There's videos of extreme violence, disgusting behavior and laws being broken but yet they want to censor a plant and firearms?

What brought the canabis thing to my attention was one if my friends on YouTube from the guitar community (Burt Cocaine) alerted everyone about his friends channel from Norway being terminated because of a 5 year old video about topping a canabis plant! Really?! This guy's channel was in good standing and was a TEN year old channel! With over 300 videos! All of those videos are now gone forever! Thats just faked up my friend! He did try to appeal the decision but it was instantly denied. If you want to watch the guy tell his story in his own words about what happened, here is the link.

I once thought that all my videos on YouTube were safe. And honestly, thats what I was using the platform for, as an online video diary/social outlet type thing. Now that I know that they can just shut down everything without warning, makes me want to go back up everything on an external hard drive.

What do you guys think? Do you think that YouTube is cutting their own throat by cleaning house so to speak or do you think that they are making the right decisions? Happy bud-day! @bluelightbandit

Sort:

I think YouTube is done for anyone who thinks about this and realizes that this is the way”tv” (mainstream media) is taking control of YouTube.
We just need an alternative to YouTube that works consistently and people will have the confidence to make the switch. Right now, people are trying to negotiate with them to even be allowed to continue. I think because even with the BS on YouTube, there hasn’t been anything as consistent. (So far and to the best of my knowledge.)

I think you should back it all up. May have to myself, unfortunate, but true. These people talking about DLive and DTube obviously don't know that they only house your videos for a short period of time before removing them. There is no external database. They use the IPFS but to try and maintain speed of retrieval for STEEM users sake, they delete things. There are a few new video platform blockchains coming though that will kick the ever living fire out of both YOUTUBE and that defunct DTube garbage.

Yes, I definately need to jump on that asap. The new video platforms you speak of sounds extremely interesting, do you have a link/name or something where I can read up on them?

My thinking is it is good for Dtube.
Youtube will still have a lot of people.
But the word is getting out.
Thank you
Francis

That throat was cut and bleeding profusely when they change the monetization rules. My favorite YouTuber left and started his own website to a great success, he is Darkwaters on YouTube. He is on Steemit now as @realdarkwaters.

Is he on Twitter as extremedarkwaters? 😁Sorry, I couldn't help it. I just saw the pattern and ran with it, whaa whaaaa 😉

Lol, not sure but he is on Twitter.

Everyone is moving from Youtube to Dlive or Dtube. Gee, I wonder why?

A warning from YT before they delete a gun channel would be better. You could then decide to take the vid off or not yourself. But canabis ??? It is legal in California I heard recently so what's the big deal.

A YouTuber a followe recently had his channel unfairly terminate. He did nothing wrong, got no strikes. Its no fair YouTube goes after people who did nothing wrong and keep the channels that don't deserve to be here

I believe they are cutting their own throat for sure!

Nail in the coffin
