A hike to remember

Beginning near the California border.
A hike the requires a pack and mind that's in order.
Cactus,rocks and sand are the landscape.
With road runners, snakes, and hawks soaring above.
Hiking for miles few ales for refreshment.
The trail gives way to sequoia and pine.
Very exhausted but thanks to a trail angel I now feel fine.
Made progress through snow and hail.
The journey after 2,650 miles it comes to a close.
After the fun is now over I suppose.
