Shannon's Five Star Restaurant - A Tasteem Review
We came upon this place while traveling and I found it like I often do by searching Google for places near me that the locals like to eat. Once again Google came through. This was a delightfu family restaurant with history at this location. There were some pictures displayed that history.

The first thing we saw was a large menu board showing the specials of the day - some pretty tasty choices there.
It was pretty busy for a weekend, showing that they have a large clientele of regular customers - always a good sign.
The interior was large, spacious, well lit and friendly.
The menu was a place mat, already waiting at your seat. One side was breakfast options.
The other side was the Lunch/Dinner menu, with a daily selection of "Blue Plate Specials".
I ordered from the daily special menu - the cornbread and beans and a side salad.
The salad was very plain, basically just lettuce, but the one saving grace was their house specialty honey mustard dressing.
I'm happy to say though that the beans and cornbread were very good.
My husband ordered the "Blue Plate Special" of the day, which was chicken fried chicken, served with mashed potatoes, corn and a hot roll.
He thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well.
All in all, the food was good, the service was fast and friendly and the price was very reasonable at less than $25 total. This is a place I would visit often and recommend to friends.

We haven't had any snow for awhile. It got up to 70 degrees here late this afternoon. But knowing Illinois, it COULD snow again.
It snowed here got around 2 inches.

Yes my chicken fried chicken was absolutely delicious! This restaurant was a complete joy, from the great food and outstanding service, to the old school prices on the wall, this is definitely a place I would like to come back to.
That Blue Plate Special meal looks so mouth watering. It just makes me want to look for a place that serves that. Thank you for sharing this with us1
