Whitney Street Restaurant - A Tasteem Review
This is another new discovery while traveling. I found this by using the Google search for "restaurants near me" then refining the results to "where locals like to eat". I selected Whitney Street Restaurant and off we went to try it out.
This is an older established restaurant with a counter with stools and two rooms with table seating.
There was a unique painting on the wall that accurately depicted the actual front of the restaurant looking out the front window.
The menu was varied and complete enough to have something for everyone.
The soup of the day was either Cream of Chicken Noodle or Lentil - I chose the Cream of Chicken Noodle and it was very tasty, with fat noodles in a thick cream base.
For my entree I ordered the steak tacos. There was a disasater at first because when my order came, it was covered with cilantro - and I hate cilantro. The menu didn't say that was included, so I was quite dismayed. The waitress say my distress and when I told her I wouldn't be able to eat this, she was very insistent to take back the food and have a new order prepared. The result was worth the wait. The tacos shells were hand made tortillas with plenty of steak and toppings. The taco sauce was just spicy enough without being too hot.
My husband actually ordered something other than a hamburger, I was proud of him! He ordered the turkey bacon wrap and french fries and was very happy with it. The wraps were so large he could only finish one of them.
In summary, while the restaurant was nothing fancy or elegant, the food was good and the service was great. The owner came to the table and was apologetic about my meal needing replaced, even though it was no fault of theirs that I don't like cilantro!

Yes, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and order something other than a hamburger, and I was really glad I did. The Turkey wrap was amazing! I was starving when we got there, and that turkey wrap was so feeling I was only able to eat half of it. Nice looking place... simple food done well! I have no idea what cilantro is, I will have to look it up...
It's a plant that looks similar to fresh parsley, but is used in a lot of mexican dishes. I think it tastes like soap!
When we go to a restaurant we immediately call those products that we don’t like. Brother always asks to remove the olives)))
I sure would have asked to not have it, if I had know it was used. It wasn't in the description. My husband always asks for "no cheese".

That Tacos looks delicious and the place looks nice.
They were very good after the cilantro was gone, lol. The place was nice enough, nothing fancy, just a regular home town type restaurant, but I've found those to have the best food sometimes.
I don't like cilantro too, but I love tacos!!
