PIZZA HUT必勝客 Review

There's things I liked and didn't like about my PIZZA HUT必勝客 Taiwan order, but let's go over it and why I rounded up for a better review! I ordered the "American pizza" with cheeseburger crust and 1 cheese tart. When I received my order, they also threw in some hash browns for free! That was a pleasant surprise and my grand total was NT$571.

The advertising for PIZZA HUT必勝客 Taiwan's cheeseburger pizza was so good, that I finally ordered Pizza Hut in Taiwan for the first time after living here for a year! The cheeseburger pizza is not a specific pizza, but it's an optional upgraded crust (+NT$100).

4/5 American Beef Pizza (With Cheeseburger Crust)
I don't know why they call it an "American Beef" pizza because I've never had beef like it! They serve thin strips of juicy sweet beef on top with caramelized onions, mushroom and red peppers. The quality of everything was really good and you got a little sweet and savory taste with every bite. That's why I'm giving it 4/5 cause it's good and I would get it again.

2/5 Cheeseburger Crust
As for the cheeseburger crust, that's 2/5 cause it was bad. It's a tiny beef patty with a strip of American cheese on it on a pool of cheese. The beef patty was very low quality. When you bit into it, it's like one solidified tasteless piece. A good burger is juicy with a lot of texture. If you can imagine beef colored tofu, that's what the texture was like. I would absolutely not get a cheeseburger crust again. Taiwan Pizza Hut got me with their good advertising.

4/5 Cheese Tart (NT$45/piece)
I love cheese tarts and this pizza hut in Taipei did it really well! I love cheese tarts and you can find them in places like Baked Cheese Tart, Hokkaido Cheese Tart, Yamazaki Bakery and a few other places.

Pizza Hut in Taiwan could sell these on their own cause it's super good! Creamy cheese on top of a thick pastry pie crust. It arrived at my place hot so you have to eat it as soon as possible while the cheese is still creamy.

2/5 Hash Browns
It was a nice gesture that they provided free hash browns (potatoes) with my order. It definitely surprised me.
The Taiwan Pizza Hut hash browns are star-shaped. I'm not sure if it's cause it was in a box when it was delivered, because it was soggy. Everyone knows hash browns are delicious when they are crispy. Soggy hash browns don't taste good, at least to me hence the 2/5 review.

Overall, I would order the American beef pizza and cheese tart from Pizza Hut in Taiwan again. It was absolutely delicious and much better than I thought it was going to be. Give PIZZA HUT必勝客 a shot next time you're in Taiwan!

Money In Taiwan

Tax Is Included In The Price

All displayed prices in Taiwan are the actual price. Tax is already included and for large purchases, tourists visiting Taiwan can get a 5% Taiwan VAT refund at the airport Tax Refund counter. Some shops offer this service too, but they will require your passport.

Taiwan Is Cash Only (For Most Small Shops)

The primary payment method for all transactions in Taiwan is cash. It's very rare for small shops to take anything other than cash. It's more common to see places accept the Taipei Metro Card as payment rather a credit card.

Supermarkets and convenience stores in Taiwan (7-Eleven, Family Mart) do not accept credit cards (at least not American credit cards). You can only make purchases by cash or by using your pre-loaded funds on your EasyCard.

Using Credit Cards in Taiwan

If you want to use your credit card in Taiwan, make sure to check if a restaurant in Taiwan accepts credit card in advance. When a place does accept credit card, it will typically be Visa or Mastercard. It's extremely rare for a place to accept Discover and American Express. UberEats, HonestBee, Deliveroo and FoodPanda are Taipei Food Delivery Services where you can order food directly to your airbnb or hotel using a credit card.

Exchanging Money in Taiwan
