THE TABLE (al-Ma’idah)steemCreated with Sketch.

I have decided to study The Quran. This is for #discussion open to all regardless of religious views. Please contribute respectively to the dialogue. I have seen how extreme and disrespectful people can become when given a chance to hold meaningful dialogue about such topics. I am not here to interpret The Quran but gain knowledge, understanding and other’s point of view. I would like to hear anyone's interpretation and analogy of these verses if it remains respectful towards the religion. I will not post a Surah (chapter) until I have read it and have something meaningful and a personal take on it to contribute to the discussion. I will not post a Surah in my post rather if I speak on a certain verse I will mention the verse I am referring to. I am currently studying The Quran and Hadiths. The Hadiths were compiled by Imām al-Bukhārī.

(5,1) The first ayah of sura al-Ma’idah talks to the Muslim about their diet. It says that wild game is forbidden while in pilgrim sanctity. I believe they were referring to hajj or a religious mosque. The foods that are forbidden to a muslim is carrion, blood, the flesh of swine or any food that Allah’s name wasn’t pronounced over before eaten. Muslim’s are ordered not to harm anyone who is seeking to perform hajj.
Pronounce God’s name over your food if you are a believer.
In Islam you can have more than one wife if you can take care of them all and be fair towards them. There is no such thing as a side-chick in Islam. Adultery is frowned upon in Islam.
(5,6) This ayah is a reminder from the hadiths I studied about washing up. It instructs the Muslims on how to wash up in the morning. It is how to wash up before prayers.
(5,17) In Islam Muslims does not believe that God is the Christ.
al-Ma’idah talks also about Moses. Moses asked his people who wander in the wilderness after being freed from Pharaoh. They were told to enter the city in which Allah appointed for them but when they scouted the city they said it were tyrannical people in it and they would not go there until they left the city.

I would really like more info on this topic because I believe the people were giants. The original Arabs were of quality height.

Besides, my speculations that are quoted in the text above this refusal to enter the city or fight in the way of Allah caused Moses and his people to wander in the wilderness for 40 years.

This sura also talked about Cain and Abel and when they both made an offering to God. One offering was accepted and the other was not. That was because one twin (Abel) was righteous and one twin (Cain) was not.

Reading sura al-Ma’idah makes me want to read and study the Torah next. I’ve noticed that the Quran speaks about the Gospel of Jesus and the Torah quite often. It also said those books have come from God. The books they believe have been distorted and misinterpreted.

(5,46) It tells that Jesus fulfilled the Torah. Jesus brought the Gospel.
(5,93) This ayah says that the righteous people will not be blamed for what they might have eaten. It says their intentions and their hearts must be righteous and obedient to Allah.
