Tarrying with the head tag

in #steembloggers8 years ago

This reading was very philosophical. There was analogical usage throughout the whole chapter to get the point about the <head> tag to the reader.
I think I understand the head tag better than I did before reading the chapter but it lead me to go to w3schools to simply look at the different tags. Later, at w3schools I will complete a topic in HTML. I also will complete HTML Basics today before returning to finish a session of HTML training at codeschool.

I found out that the usage of the head tag is to communicate information and data to other bots. It is not for the human viewer so it will not display on the screen. It is used by search engines and robots looking to scan pages etc... I could not use it in this post on steemit. The meta tag helps search engines locate your page when looking for hits on your keywords. The head tag is what help them locate the descriptive information on your page but they are more sophisticated than just searching the head tag.
Some search engines do not really focus much on searching the head tag because it could be inaccurate information put there.

HTML is derived from SGML. A HTML document is an entity with the main elements being the head and body tag.

This sounds really difficult for me but you seem to have it figured out. Keep it up!

Didn't understand none of this, but, keep up the great work

If I recall correctly very few search engines now use the meta tag to classify your site. This was due to people "gaming" the system. Nowadays they use far more complex algorithms to decide what search terms will result in your page being amongst the results, and how far up the rankings it will sit.

Thanks for sharing this informative post.

Have a great day and stay blessed.
