American Government Diving into Blockchain

in #blockchain8 years ago

Introduction

The American government has been increasingly involved in blockchain and it's research, and has begun to devote proper resources into investigating the operational benefits and efficiencies offered by the technology. And although there stance still remains rather oppositional towards crypto currency they have taken notice of the underlying potential of distributed ledgers and applications, and are using their best agencies to develop their own.

The US State Department and Department of Defence

Both of these establishments will be operating under the new National Authorization Act for investigating into blockchain's benefits and risks. State Department Secretary John J.Sullivan will be encouraging the federal Government establish communicative link between themselves and businesses using the blockchain. They will do this in order to create a more fluent transaction of relevant information on real world applications of the blockchain.

They declare that blockchain protocols can enable the government to become more transparent and more society servant, by reducing corruption and self serving principles. For example government procurement created $9 trillion or 20% of national GDP, however a whopping $2 trillion of this was lost due to channels of corruption. Using the blockchain can ensure this does not happen, increasing the ability of bettering services and improving the public's trust in them.

N.A.S.A

Nasa's operations could benefit greatly from the blockchain in terms of computing power, efficiency of data transmissions and communication. So they have issued a grant to The Akron University of Ohio for purposes of further examining blockchain application in aerospace industries. The grant will enable the University to research deep learning techniques and development of Artificial Intelligence models to create better communications and networking applications. They will be developing such a system upon the Ethereum blockchain and using it in order to better the crucial technology and infrastructure that N.A.S.A uses to successfully complete missions.

The Treasury Department

Even the treasury is devoting resource to researching blockchain technology, and is trying to identify ways in which it could streamline processes within the agency and strengthen financial links with corporations. The intention of accelerating such operations was proposed by Secretary if the Treasury Steve Mnuchin, and is hoped to benefit Trump's public infrastructure plan. The plan outlines rebuilding bridges, roads, airports, public spaces etc. in order to improve America's economic ability in the coming years, and can be helped by blockchain.

Mnuching proposes using such technology as it would severely improve communication of data and information, and benefit the entire process of conducting such an infrastructural redevelopment like planning, auditing and ordering. Overall these developments are encouraging to say the least and speak many words about the intended future applications of blockchain technology, and are already being used federally to enforce anti money laundering and anti terrorist financing using cryptocurrency. They pose great potential to making our world more transparent and efficient in many aspects, so lets hope that they are successful in using such tools.
