Just Bought Another Funko Pop Collection

It was actually acquired yesterday. Ah...I remember it like it was...well...yesterday. A day filled with a purchasing several collections. I bought a small comic collection consisting of around 200 books. I’ll show that next week when I properly go through it. A few cool smaller gems in there at quick glance. Some guy came in with 9 bins full of late 90’s/early 2000’s Batman crap. Figures, posters, lunchboxes. Maybe I’ll show that off if I see anything worthwhile. It’s mostly junk. The other was this Funko Pop collection.

It’s a young couple that collected together and they decided to dump what they pretty much didn’t want. Still collecting em, but shifting their focus. They wanted cash and no credit and were both very nice. They have been in before but according to them it’s been a while.

As I quickly went through the 3 large boxes, I noticed there were a bunch of commons and then a good chunk of lower tiered exclusives. Rummaging quickly does not allow me the time or opportunity to do a thorough check on what we already had but I’m pretty good mentally with it. At my quick glance I’d put it at pretty close to a 50/50 split on doubles vs. pieces needed. For a count of about 130 Pops plus random miscellaneous pieces. Not too shabby.

I told them to start out with a number and they threw out $400. That would break down to $3.07 a Pop and $2.66 per piece. As I mentioned there were a few other random items like Dorbz, Hikari’s, and mugs. Only 20 random items. I countered with $300. Then we did the song and dance u til we reached the odd number of $337 dollars. That breaks down to $2.59 a Pop and $2.24 per piece.

I lined em up for this shot here to show everything. I have my guy James yanking anything we need for the floor so I can price them all tomorrow. Hoping to need at least 65 of them to see if I still have that magic. 😜

Anyway, even if we sold these all eventually for our base price of $12 per Pop, that would be over $1500 bucks. The bad news is a portion of these I have like 20 times over again so these will never sell. The good news is that there are tons of $20-$30 pieces here. The better news is that there are some $50 and above. I’ll blow through that Iron Throne , WWII Cap, and Sharknado instantly!!!

I’d guess that we might break even and be out of the red in a few days. People always flock to new collections...especially as we have them piled up and not yet priced. People like digging through new things. It’s just human nature. As I was typing this about 2 mins ago, I got a text from my partner saying sone dude was asking prices on a few. My guess is a few will sell today. Either way, money well spent as this will yield a nice return over time while adding a healthy new stock of product on the cheap.
