Happy Valentines Day 2 All My Fellow Steemians
Going to print this out and color it in (poorly) and hand it to my wife today. We usually don’t celebrate the day today. I worked in the restaurant industry for ages and it’s just an absolute nightmare to go out to eat on this day. Kitchen problems, shitty service, long waits...no thanks!
We usually wait until the week after and go and have a nice dinner somewhere. Get each other some of our favorite snacks...things like that. She’s more of a fan of the day than I am (big surprise). I kinda hate it to be honest. You should want to spoil your partner and show your appreciation and love for them because you really want to...not because a specific day tells you to. I think the thing that bugs me the most about it are the commercials telling me to go buy jewelry. It reminds me of the car commercials that show over privileged assholes giving each other a new Lexus for Christmas. It even has a big ass red bow!!! Suuuuuuper realistic and practical. Ugh...
Anyway, if you do celebrate this day with your loved one, I hope you have a nice time. If you don’t celebrate...I hope you also have a nice time. If you don’t have a loved one, don’t stress it...it’s overrated. 😜
Oh, it’s also my niece’s birthday today. 22 years old and I couldn’t be more proud of her. Love you Hayley!!!

It is rather ridiculous @blewitt being told which specific day you should demonstrate your undying love to your partner by obviously buying a ton of unnecessary things which most likely quickly gets forgotten about. You would not catch me out on V-day specifically it's impossible, everywhere is full and going mental with people who think they have something to prove. Like yourself if I was to do something it would be like a week later.
YeH we did However go see a movie last night but I booked that in advance. Dining on V Day is the pitts

Ads telling you to buy jewelry... That reminds me of an ad from a number of years ago that I saw a lot at the time. I don't know that it was targeted around Valentine's Day or not but it may have been. It was from jewelry or diamond company and it was telling you how you should spend about 3 months pay on an engagement ring (I'm pretty sure it was DeBeers). Gotta hand it to them though, that was pretty ballsy.
Yup. That’s what they have engrained in peoples heads. I’ve heard that repeated as it should be the standard. Garbage.

Those commercials are aids. I've been getting pretty much nothing but Kay Jewelers ads on Twitch for the past 10 days now. Fuck off with that shit, cunts.
By the way, do you have an Amazon shop for your store? Someone gave me a $25 giftcard for Amazon and I need something to spend it on.

They also just come off as very disingenuous and just mediocre. I don't quite understand how anyone finds interest in buying shit from them for their SO's. I'd rather just go to a small mom and pop owned shop or Etsy store and buy a ring from there like I did for my fiancee's engagement.
