A Flashy Story
While I’m exhibiting at the various conventions throughout the country, I sadly do not get to wander around. I work the booth all day which means I’m limited to what passes right in front of me. Once in a while someone wanders into my booth and I can take advantage. Case in point.
Last weekend on the ever so slow Friday, a familiar face wandered into my booth. It was none other than Sam J Jones...A.K.A. Flash Gordon!!! Now I’ve seen Sam at other shows but we never had the chance to actually meet so it was a nice treat to be able to chat it up for a bit. I think he saw the stupid amount of Pops at my booth and wanted to see if we had any Flash Gordon ones. I was all out but remembered I had something at the shop so I told him to check back tomorrow but not before snapping a pic of the moment.
Sure enough he made his way over on Saturday and I handed him a Flash Gordon Dorbz 2 pk and a Ted Pop. Yeah...remember his awesome appearance in that film?!? He ruled!!!
He was super happy and asked what he owed me. I told him we would settle up at the end of the show. I didn’t want any money at all but did want something from him. My good buddy and brand new Steemian @ronozuk is a ridiculous fan of Sam’s and has coincidentally written a really nice piece here on his Flash Gordon collection. Anyway, I thought...wouldn’t it be cool to have Sam check out Ron’s piece?!? So all I asked for in exchange for the toys were a signed print for my buddy Ron, a picture with @falcore as he wanted in on that, and for Sam to give my buddy’s piece a read. So Sam snapped a shot with @falcore, personalized a print for Ron, and then gave me his cell number where I text him the link to Ron’s kickass piece.
I’m not sure if he read it yet and I didn’t want to hound the guy...but I will definitely follow up with him in the near future. Might also bother him about popping on the platform!!! 😜

That was one awesome movie, many a school holiday spent watching that as a kid.
40 year anniversary next year.
It must be interesting from Sam's perspective..... 30 years of autographs, and then it morphs into selfies.

I always thought of that. These roles that defined an actor's career...I imagine there are parts where you are completely grateful and count your blessings...and others where you never want to hear about it again. 40 coming up...nuts!

Amazing. That's a brilliant story and it's all about who you know in business. Hope you can rope him onto steemit and we can have some fun with him. Your mate looks decent too, he has some good stuff to start with.
Yeah @ronozuk is a total superfan. If he’s into it he goes all out.
I’d love to be able to wrangle Sam on here. No idea if he would venture on but I think he could do well. Honestly I think any celeb could do well.
