Friendly Toon Wolf

I randomly wanted to draw a different toony design of Bleuxwolf. So, here it is. And here's the tutorial for what I did as well. :)

My Layer Layout

• Foreground Folder
  • Lineart layer
  • Detail Colors Folder (Masked to Base Color layer.)
    • Quaternary Color layer
    • Tertiary Color layer
    • Secondary Color layer
  • Base/Primary Color layer
• Background Folder
  • Shadows layer
  • Base/Primary Color layer
• Extra Sketch layer
• Fine Sketch layer
• Rough Sketch layer
• Canvas Background layer (Neutral color like grey.)

• Canvas Prep/Rough Sketch

  Layers Used:

  Canvas Background layer

  Rough Sketch layer

  Start off with a grey or neutral colored canvas background. Then sketch over it a rough sketch of the shape and pose of the character.

• Fine Sketch

  Layers Used:

  Fine Sketch layer

  Then sketch over the roughs with a more detailed sketch.

• Lineart

  Layers Used:

  Foreground Folder -> Lineart layer

  Draw in the linearts over the sketches.

• Base/Primary Color

  Layers Used:

  Foreground Folder -> Base/Primary Color layer

  Select all areas outside of the character parameters with the contiguous "wizard" tool, invert the selection, then fill in the area with the primary color of the character as the base color.

• Detail Color

  Layers Used:

  Foreground Folder -> Detail Colors Folder -> (Folder's color layers)

  Then add in the other color details.

• Background/Final Check/Final Result

  Layers Used:

  Background Folder -> Base/Primary Color layer

  Background Folder -> Shadows layer

  (Various layers)

  Finally, add in a simple patterned background and a little shadow below the character. Then check over the drawing for any errors.

Then the drawing is complete!
