What are people's misconceptions about fasting

There are numerous misunderstandings regarding fasting that individuals have. One of the known misconceptions about fasting is that fasting consists mainly of not eating or drinking for a period of time. But that is not how I see it. I see Fasting as a way of promoting our spiritual discipline, self-reflection, and connection with our beliefs. We should know that Fasting does not only entails abstaining from food and drink, but also from any unpleasant thoughts, feelings, or behaviors. It is a moment in our lives to be grateful and compassionate to others and draw closer to God.

Many people are unaware that fasting promotes spiritual growth. Fasting is an act of abstaining from everything that does not bring glory to God or our body. The time of Ramadan is a time to make peace with ourselves and others. A time to feed the poor and needy.

In conclusion.
Ramadan is not just a time to fast alone, it's a time to show love to one another, feed the poor, and extend arms to the needy. It's a time to forgive those that have offended. May this Ramadan be a time of peace, love, and hope for all of us and may through this fasting all our heart desires be granted.
