The Power to Tread
The word of God is the sword of the spirit and an integral component of the armour of God with which we are to withstand, resist and overcome the forces of darkness.
Today we are going to have a look at Luke 10:19
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you-KJV.
This is a cartegorical statement by Jesus the son of God to his followers and those who believe in him. He has given us power to tread on serpents and scorpions. Another use of the power is to overcome our arch enemy the devil. The scorpions and the serpents are the commanders and foot soldiers in the world of darkness, those who have sold their souls and are helping satan to promote his agenda.
The significance of this verse is you have the authority to exercise over these cohorts of darkness, therefore you should not be afraid of them. The holy book say you should be fearless and of good courage, that you should resist the devil and he will flee from you. That we have not given you the spirit of fear, that you should walk through the valley of the shadow of death and fear no evil. If you are afraid then they will feed off your fear and become larger than life which means you do not have faith or believe in your heavenly Father.
You need to put the forces of darkness where they belong which is under your feet, God has given you the mandate to tread on them. Trample on them and they will dissappear, resist the devil and he will flee from you. The devil will try to deceive you into believing he has some real power but its all mirage because he is just a master of illusion. He will try to put fear in you and scare you so you need to resist him. Be resolute in your faith in the creator and the illusion falls away.
Remember the last part of that verse states that nothing shall by any means hurt you, this is another statement of truth from the Creator. He is giving us the assurance that He is with us every step of the way and will never leave us for a second as long as we put our trust in Him.
Remember there is only one truth and it is the truth of Yahweh on the throne of glory and holiness.
