This week's Color Palette contest has chosen one of my favorite colors... "Brown." Many people do not like it, but I have liked it since I was a teenager and there are also many brown things that surround us, so I was undecided when choosing the photo to publish... first I was going to publish my birthday cake Last year it was a chocolate volcano, but I published those photos at that time, then I thought of my daughter's violin or the trees in a park, some brown pants or shirt of mine, but I remembered these emblematic houses in the city of Amsterdam.

El concurso Color Palette de esta semana a escogido uno de mis colores favoritos... "Marrón". A muchas personas no les gusta, pero a mi si me ha gustado desde que era adolescente y es que además hay muchas cosas marrones que nos rodea, así que estuve indecisa al escoger la foto que publicaría.. primero iba a publicar mi torta de cumpleaños del año pasado que fue un volcán de chocolate, pero esas fotos las publiqué en aquél momento, luego pensé en el violín de mi hija o los árboles de un parque, algún pantalón o camisa marrón mío, pero recordé estas casa emblemáticas de la ciudad de Amsterdam.

I remember seeing these picturesque houses in photos, when our friend traveled and showed us his route, I also got to see them in magazines or souvenirs, and they seemed so beautiful because they were tall, narrow houses and their different brown tones that made me like them more . They are not the typical buildings that we are used to seeing.

Recuerdo que veía estas pintorescas casas en fotos, cuando nuestro amigo viajaba y nos mostraba su recorrido, también llegué a verlas en revistas o souvenir, y me parecían tan bonitas por se casas altas, estrechas y sus diferentes tonos marrones que hacían que me gustaran más. No son las típicas edificaciones que estamos acostumbrados a ver.

Finally when we arrived in the city of Amsterdam, waaaaooo, there they were, those beautiful houses that I always saw in photos or magazines, in all their splendor, in front of my eyes. "An architectural beauty" for me, but behind all those facades there is much to discover.

Finalmente cuando llegamos a la ciudad de Amsterdam, waaaaooo, allí estaban, esas casa lindas que siempre vi en foto o revistas, en todo su esplendor, frente a mis ojos. "Una belleza arquitectonica" para mi, pero que detrás de todas esas fachadas hay mucho por descubrir.

I thought that those houses were narrow so that they would be more striking in terms of passenger cars, perhaps as an icon of Holland, but the story they told us when we were there is that the narrower a house was, the less tax it paid and that is because Most of the houses and buildings are narrow, some more than others, in addition these houses are built on wooden stilts since they are in the water and therefore some of them are inclined.

Pensaba que esas casas eran estrechas para que fuesen más llamativas en cuanto a turismos, tal vez como ícono de Holanda, pero la historia que nos contaron cuando estuvimos allá, es que mientras más estrecha fuese una casa, menos impuesto pagaba y a eso se debe que la mayoría de las casa y edificios son estrechos, algunos más que otros, además estas casa están construidas sobre pilotes de madera ya que se encuentran en el agua y por eso algunas de ellas están inclinadas.
