SVM Update: EVM & Cosmos RPCs Live, MetaMask Ready, and Testnet Nearing Public Launch!

A few days ago, I shared an early vision for SVM (Steem Virtual Machine) — an experiment to bring EVM compatibility, smart contracts, and DeFi to the Steem ecosystem while preserving what makes Steem unique: zero fees, a vibrant content economy, and real user adoption.

Since then, we’ve made significant technical progress — and I’m thrilled to share what’s now live and ready for early testing!
This Week’s Milestones
✅ EVM RPC is Online!
You can now connect directly to the SVM EVM layer:

This endpoint supports standard Ethereum JSON-RPC methods — meaning MetaMask, Remix, Hardhat, and other EVM tooling will work out of the box.
✅ Cosmos RPC & API Live
For Cosmos SDK interactions (staking, governance, IBC, etc.):
- Cosmos RPC: https://cosrpc.blazescanner.org
- Cosmos REST API: https://cosapi.blazescanner.org
- gRPC & WebSocket (WSS) support is also enabled for real-time apps and indexers.
✅ Light Block Explorer Launched

⚠️ Note: The indexer is still under construction, so historical data may be incomplete. Full transaction history and EVM event decoding will be added soon.
✅ MetaMask Integration Works!
You can already add SVM as a custom network in MetaMask with these settings:
- Network Name: Steem Virtual Machine
- RPC URL:
https://evmrpc.blazescanner.org - Chain ID:
8163 - Currency Symbol:
STEEM - Decimals:
18 - Block Explorer:
https://svmscan.blazeapps.org(basic for now)
Once added, you can deploy and interact with smart contracts using Remix or other EVM tools!
Currently, EVM transactions appear as generic “EVM” entries in the explorer — I’m actively integrating full EVM transaction decoding and event logs.
✅ SvmNS Identity Binding – Completed!
The SvmNS (Steem Virtual Machine Name Service) is now fully functional!
This means your Steem username (e.g., @blaze.apps) can be your on-chain wallet address.
Here’s how it works:
- You prove ownership of your Steem account (via a signed message or transaction).
- Validators verify your claim (with a 2/3 consensus vote).
- Your username is mapped to an EVM address on SVM — no more
0x...addresses needed for basic interactions.
This is a huge step toward making SVM feel native to Steem users while maintaining full EVM compatibility under the hood.
Blockscout Explorer Under Construction
A dedicated Blockscout-based explorer (like those used by Polygon or Gnosis) is being built for rich EVM data visualization — stay tuned!
Need Test STEEM?
To interact with SVM (deploy contracts, test transactions, etc.), you’ll need test STEEM.
We’re preparing a public faucet—in the meantime, join our Discord server to request test tokens and connect with other early testers:
Testnet Status: Almost Ready for Public Participation
The testnet is now stable and producing blocks with validators @h4lab , @bangla.witness and @cur8 — absolute legends who believed in this experiment enough to spin up nodes and troubleshoot along the way.
We’re finalizing:
- Bridge prototype (Steem ↔ SVM asset transfer)
- Documentation and developer onboarding
- Final polish on the faucet and explorer
We expect to open the testnet to public testers within days, so get your MetaMask ready!
How You Can Help Now
Even before the full public launch, your input matters:
- Try connecting MetaMask using the settings above.
- Deploy a simple contract via Remix and share your experience.
- Test SvmNS: If you’re interested in linking your Steem identity, reach out on Discord.
- Report issues or suggest improvements on the explorer or RPC behavior.
- Discuss bridge governance: How should trusted signers be chosen? Should it be community-elected?

SVM isn’t about replacing Steem — it’s about extending its utility into the world of programmable finance, NFTs, and cross-chain interoperability, without sacrificing its soul.
With EVM and Cosmos infrastructure now live — and SvmNS identity binding complete — we’re no longer just theorizing — we’re building.
