My Voting Declaration: Smart Social Contract
This post inspired by the fine work by this post by @derekareith - given the topic, I thought that using the same image would be useful from a 'marketing' perspective of the #myvotingdeclaration tag.
I took most of the structure but made it my own.
Consider this my social contract with the Steemit ecosystem.

- I will upvote posts and/or people I like.
- I may upvote content that I disagree with
Downvotes
I will downvote the posts I find to be:
- Spam
- Plagiarization
- Consistent hashtag spam
- Stalking
- Harassing
- Anything I view as being strategically detrimental to the Steem ecosystem
Standards
- I will not downvote posts and/or people that I disagree with
- I will only use the mute button when a user seems hopelessly destructive
- I will not downvote posts out of revenge or retaliation.

I like this. I might have to follow suit. It's nice to see these kinds of declarations out here, especially regarding respecting posts even if you disagree with the message.

Great stuff, man! It's like a collective, social smart contract.
Would be nice to populate a single point of reference for these sorts of 'social smart contracts' to see who has voluntarily written and published their own code of conduct to the blockchain.
This makes holding folks accountable down the road that much easier AND it gives another solid data point to differentiate 'individuals' from 'bots'.
That's what I was thinking. I didn't think it would be constructive to tell people how to vote, but rather set an example on how I would vote and hope others would do the same as well. Emergent solutions FTW!

Also downvote shills, shilling and trolling is also a very shady practice and has no place in an open platform like steemit!
I upvote posts I disagree with politically if the person writing them strikes me as intelligent. But I find too many people bitching about trolls as soon as they find themselves in conversation with someone that disagrees with them. I don't want to only talk to people who agree with me on everything. That's a circlejerk.
In general I upvote smart and reserve the down vote button for the worst kind of spam and stupidity.
Some 'shilling' is legitimate discussion. If it falls into my subjective spam category, that's enough for me to downvote.
Trolling is a mix of dishonesty and antagonism. Shilling implies simple dishonesty. Two sides of the same coin, IMO.
