THE UNEXPECTED "TASTECOVERY"
Although located within the food heaven of Luyang area, about 10 minute from Kota Kinabalu City centre, a food lover would miss the spot unless specifically mentioned 1st floor location. Yes! its on the 1st floor. One might expect a good eating place to be on the ground floor at least but this one prefers to be different - and it's the only coffeeshop on the 1st floor. A coffeeshop with a view.
The second thing that would surprised you is the name - Kedai Kopi Joseph or Joseph Coffeeshop is not a typicay coffeeshop name. In fact, my first impression was what sort of coffeeshop is this Joseph? And my guessed was "maybe a curry house?" But curry houses would not have chinese characters on their signboards. So the only way to find out is to go up. And tadaaaaa....
I found myself a nice spot and ordered 'konlomein' with slices of roasted pork and duck.
The noodle was nicely done with the right tenderness and balanced taste of the light gravy. I love the individuality of the fine noodle that doesn't stick to each other, as if countable even in your mouth.
I made a right choice with the roasted pork- yummy, juicy, tender and crispy crumpled-bubled skin. It was not that salty like many I've tasted before. I was equally challenged by the taste of the roasted duck- tender & juicy with amazing rich taste but not overpowering, a taste only duck lovers would understand.
The simple not so typical coffeeshop has nothing to be proud of in terms of venue but it was cozy enough to have a meal with friends and family and clean too. Food and drinks are reasonably priced and I was there long enough to see tables easily filling up around 10 am which gave me assurance the tasty food overrides what ever prices put up on the wall. For that I ordered another portion of roasted pork mixed with BBQ pork for take away.
Journey to Kedai Kopi Joseph was certainly the most** Unexpected Tastecovery** I made recently. I still think the coffeeshop name a bit out of the ordinary. But then again maybe it was baptized and given a Christian name...Joseph!

A delicious meal from there, definitely a "tastecovery"😄. I guess the delicious meal came as a big surprise and even though the venue isn't the best of it, it did live up to it with the taste.
