Second Thoughts About HF 19 and Not Being Greedy
So I wanted to share some of my ideas and experiences so far after hardfork 19 in hopes that it will primarily help new users who just joined and also to give insight into the morality issues of HF 19.
Most of us know now that our vote is worth 4x more, and you can vote up to 10x with a 100% voting power, this gives everyone a advantageous position to upvote themselves and to give themselves potentially a lot of money. This is dependent upon how much SteemPower one has to REALLY make a significant difference. I've heard people complain about users upvoting their comments and not upvoting the persons post...Let's not do that.
However, just upvoting yourself in comments in the long run won't really help the platform grow to its true potential as people will ultimately get greedy. Being greedy usually ends in short-term gains. I've been watching some of the people who I think have a lot of influence on the platform like @exyle and he seems to have a give mentality because he wants the platform to actually grow. He gave away over $120 in his comment section, and he said that was fun, pretty cool honestly. # GOALS
I will not lie, I upvote some of my comments, but I also upvote a lot of other peoples comments and blog post who I think are consistent and who put out decent content. Sense I consider myself a minnow right now in terms of how much SteemPower I have (300 SP currently) my influence is well...not that influential right now, but its a good start.I've been on the steemit platfom for almost 3 months and I can definitely say that I have earned more SP than I started with and initially invested.
My goals is to hit 500 SP so that I can finally gain more control over my voting power, once you hit 500 SP the voting bar becomes activated and you can finally finesse the way you curate posts. I assume this will be a big game changer, as of now, I usually generate around 0.300 SP from upvoting post in a week (maybe a little more), but I'm sure I could do better if I could adjust how much I chose to give a certain author. There's a website you can check though if you don't have 500 SP, check it out on my blog here:

As a consequence, HF 19 is going to make Steem more expensive as new users slowly pile in once they here about how cool the platform is and they finally realize that Steemit is one of the only usable and friendly blockchain technologies that a normal (non-tech) person can use everyday. For that speculative reason I think Steem will probably continue to slowly test its all time high ( nobody knows when).
The first few days I thought the HF 19 was just going to help whales (which it does indeed) but I think it has also helped minnows like myself feel more involved and become more active. Also, I like to add that I'm really bad at holding onto cryptocurrency, I like trading so locking up my Steem into SteemPower has helped me to save and actually earn more. Let's be honest, we can all win, if you just be patient and have a long-term mentality when it comes to investing.
I know I don't write the best blogs but I'm trying and will hopefully find a niche and get better, that's all we can do. Good luck to all on their steemit journey!
Nice post! Sounds like you're moving in the right direction to me :) Steem on!
Thanks!!
You don't have to reach 500 SP to control your voting power. Downloading esteem app on your phone, you can adust your voting power. It's what I learned from reading the articles on steemit and see friends trying it out.
Thanks for the info, I'll check that out, reaching 500 is also just a personal goal.
Then go for it, cryptopreneur ;) Thanx for touching on the morals issues on steemit. It does come up after reading more about HF19.
