A Wonderful Evening at the Shangri-La in Bangkok..
The Salathip Restaurant in the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok is without a doubt one of my favourite places to dine. It's also a great place to take visitors to the city for a memorable evening, they won't forget.
SALATHIP
The restaurant is made up of 3 traditional Thai-style pavilions built along the banks of the Chao Phraya River in central Bangkok. The location itself is stunning as the neon-lit river boats parade past all night providing an endless lightshow. The ambience and charm remind of a former time when aesthetics and doing things right were more important than time and money. I could sit all night and marvel at my surrounds.
THE ENTERTAINMENT
We were treated to 3 different forms of entertainment during our meal. The dancers perform for a short while in each pavillion before moving on. We had traditional Thai dancing, a short scene from the classic "Ramayana" tale, and some lively chicken fighting. All were great and added to the feeling of the meal.
THE FOOD
As usual, the food was outstanding. The restaurant offers a selection of classical Thai cuisine. Tonight we had a selection of lobster, curry, vegetables, fish and some Thai sweets. Delicious !!!
If you are visiting Bangkok and want a truly wonderful night, then I highly recommend a meal at the Salathip, Shangr-La. They also have their own boat which does evening dinner cruises, I might need to check that out next time.
