Did you know exactly what your very first post would be about?
Hi!
When YOU first joined Steemit, what was YOUR very first post? More importantly, did you think long and hard what would you write about, the very first time? (Just a profile page doesn’t count.)
I caught myself thinking about just that. I am curious how other people felt and approached it. For me, anything that is first in your life has some degree of significance. I personally pay attention to anything that is unusual (meaning statistically unlikely or something that happens only once or lasts forever or stands out comparing other occurrences).
Maybe that is why I value reputation very seriously, by the way.
Unusual things are like signs in our life. They are like a start of some rhythm. It is similar how some people try to start the new year or some other life cycles fresh. Like a new job, a new relation, a new project, a new year, a new year of your life on your birthday and so on.
So here it is. I caught myself thinking about it. For some it might sound like a sign of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive) and I admit it probably is.
How did you approach it?
Do I write something light hearted, funny, like a joke? Nothing wrong with it, but might be perceived as a person lacking substance if the reputation has not been established yet.
Do I write something very serious to set the tone? That would be ok too but could be boring for many others and probably not the best way to start.
Do I start with something very personal? Maybe, but way too personal all of the sudden might not be welcomed either. Not everybody wants to know about your dirty laundry so to speak. Although I am sure some would like just that. Lol.
I actually wrote a lot of material elsewhere. I am thinking of publishing it here. When I went through all of it, none seemed the best fit for the first post.
DOES THIS FEEL FAMILIAR? Or am I one crazy OCD guy?
Anyway, it felt right to make my very first post be exactly THAT - to share with you how it felt and ask for your stories and your feedback.

Welcome to Steemit! My very first post that I made was my #introduceyourself post, actually! But I had been hesitant to write it for weeks after my account had been approved. My first few weeks on Steemit I just browsed the content being posted and thought about what I could possibly contribute to the place. It all just felt so daunting, so I put off posting of any sort for a while. When I finally decided to make a post last week, I sat down and just started writing whatever came to mind. I introduced myself and ended up going into a lot of detail. It ended up being fairly long, but I wrote my heart out and made myself known to my potential readers, and that's what matters I suppose. Since then, however, I've written a few short stories, and I've made a few blog posts. I plan on writing those things for a while, but I'm really looking forward to also writing about other things every now and then.
