Icebreakers

in #photography7 years ago

Today I watched two really strange scenes, so far I have not had the chance to see how the swans play icebreakers and the other is to see them sleeping!

Literally they crushed the ice that formed on the entire surface of the canal. As they moved toward some of their goal, with weight of their bodies broke the ice that surrounded them.

In previous years, it was customary that as soon as the canal froze, they would fly to another location. Frozen water is a potential death for them, because then they stay without their food which they can find only in water.

About three hours later, for the first time in my life, I had the opportunity to watch the swans while they were asleep.

At the same time it was an exciting but also a funny event! On the middle of the canal, surrounded by ice, the swans were floating. Such a scene can not really be seen every day.
