Quality vs. Quantity

Over the past couple weeks with the price increase of SBD, I have noticed a lot of people pushing out as many posts as they can in a day. There is nothing wrong with that and I would like to get posts out every day but for myself, I would rather put out something I work long and hard on than just a "filler" post. You know, just posting something quick and easy to fill up your blog for the day.

Quantity

As I said earlier, there is nothing wrong with putting out as much post as you can in a day. In fact, that can have its own benefits such as more exposure. More often readers come across your posts, the more chances your posts will get voted on, resteemed, and gain followers.

At the same time, there's a good chance some may consider making so many posts in a day is spamming the blockchain or just trying to be greedy and get as many rewards as you can. It can also be difficult to get larger rewards if you are putting out so many posts. A large supporter could have difficulty keeping up voting on so many posts so instead of getting a higher vote percentage, you are most likely to end up with smaller rewards for your posts. However, it can add up.

Having quantity doesn't necessarily mean there isn't any quality. Generally, some consider a person that puts out so many posts in a day is not really putting in the time and effort in creating a blog post. It is difficult for some to just get one or two posts done in a day.

Quality

Most would consider having quality over quantity but it can be both subjective and objective. One may think what they are reading and viewing is quality content but to others, it may not be. Many would say the writing of an article or post would have a large part when considering something to be quality content. The format, spelling, grammar, etc.

Even if one were to take the time to writing something considered quality, there's a chance it may be overlooked. IMO, a quality post is one that provides helpful information to others and can be used as a reference in the future. Months and years later, the information can be looked back on to help somebody that is searching for information and to learn from it. Many of us tend to read things that are worth our time, relevant, useful, unique, moving, noteworthy, and well thought out.

In my experience, taking the time to work on quality pays off more than quantity. There was a time I would put out quantity and would earn rewards that would add up. Then I decided to focus on quality and found I was earning more rewards. I would put out one post every couple days and those ended up earning me more than I did putting out multiple posts every day. This doesn't mean everyone will get the same results if they were to do this but there a good chance you will.

Quality posts tend to have more engagement and that is something very valuable to have when creating content. Interaction with others and feedback is a reward of itself.

Conclusion

Whichever you choose to do is up to you. I'm just sharing my observations and opinion and for me and I'm sure many others on this platform would agree, quality pays off in the long run.

Hi @bitcoinparadise! Great points. Regardless if someone posts daily or not, I think the biggest thing I've learned in the last few months is that it is so easy for me NOT to post after I stepped away for a few days... so much so that last time, it was 3 weeks that went by before I posted again.

I encourage everyone to that is holding back until you have the perfect idea to post and all the stars are aligned to just post... even if you think it's not perfect because you may be your own toughest critic. Your community and the friends you have made look for you and miss you. I know when people drop off for a few weeks at a time, I am constantly going to their blog to look to see if they have posted again.

And for people that seem to post a thousand times a day, it may be working against you because like @bitcoinparadise pointed out, it may seem like spam and you'll end up muted which defeats the purpose anyways.

Very good points you make. In the end, it's up to you how you want to present your blog to others.

I used to have a hard time stepping away and not posting for a while but now I don't mind. It gives an opportunity to others to earn more. I earned a lot since I started on here and am very grateful. Not to toot my own horn but I had posts make it on trending a few times and it is a great feeling. There was a time I didn't post for almost 3 months to help give others opportunity to get to trending but it doesn't really help when we see those that constantly post everyday and the same users are on trending. Nothing really wrong with that but I believe others deserve an opportunity to get to that trending page and that would require some users to not post everyday. Either way, we all can do our part to make this platform better :)

Excellent excellent post. & rings true with every word.
I personally don't go more than 2 posts a day. I aim for one every 12 hours or so.
The reason for me is monetary & exposure. I do a vlog a day about and then I write a poem or a short article.
However I do agree fully with everything that has been said in your post. It really is a very well put together post, and for that I'm going to UPVOTE it & RESTEEM it.

Keep up the good work Sir.

Thanks buddy. Yea I did mention that posting a lot has its own benefits. Just keep Steemin'!!!

your content just awesome..i appreciate to your content.. carry on your activity and i wait for your new content...best of luck...my friend...

Wow thank you for the kind words. I appreciate that very much.

thanks a lot for replying.
i think your all content i follow..

but when create your new blog? my friend😍😍

Hi! I came to visit you after you upvoted my post. This is the reason why I did my seven day black and white photography challenge in just one post. With my limited steem power, it makes more sense to write more in depth and create deeper connections with my readers. It's kind of like having a conversation with a few people instead of waving at 100.

Posting 7 small posts when I haven't established myself felt like spam.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Yea there's nothing wrong with posting small posts. From my experience, focusing on quality pays out more than when I do small posts everyday. Everyone is different but it's something to think about when creating content on here.

It's hard not to focus on the rewards when you're new. I went through that when I first started but as time passed, I stopped focusing on the rewards and focused on the quality of information I give to my readers. That's more important for me.

@bitcoinparadise, thanks for reminding us to find the balance between quantity and quality.

I believe that there are times that it is more appropriate to push out a larger number of posts and other times to write up a few, lengthy posts.

It really depends on the vision and need of the blogger and his/her followers at any given moment.

But I hope that I have a mindset to server rather than be served. Honestly, it is tough, but a noble pursuit.

Yes, I can agree with what you said and it is tough to have the mindset to be a server. From my experience, it pays off in the long run.

Thank you for your comment.

My goal since I started was to be making 1 post a day. I've missed one day since the start of November. Yesterday was the first day I made 2 posts in the one day at all, and that was only because of 2 contest things I wanted to do.

I'm sure many others have changed their posting volume based on the current spikes, but I'd hope that they're also seeing a dip in the per post income as those that vote on everything they post re-evaluate that with the increased volume

Yea nothing really wrong with posting a lot. I could just tell by the look of many posts, people were just getting posts out to get what they can since the SBD price is up.

In the end, there are so many ways to use this platform and people can find quality in any type of post.

You are absolutely right. It is quality that lifts not the quantity. It is proven.

It can depend on some factors. There are some cases where quantity can work for someone. But for the vast majority, quality is where it's at ;)

Thank you for the comment.

Thank you for upvote. You are logical this time too.

We upvoted this, and noticed the payout went DOWN!?! (from $10.37 when we read your article, to $10.35 after upvoting it)
Sorry for that, we don't know what causes that to happen, do you??

@metzli is right. It's not your fault. Thank you. I appreciate the vote :)

From what I understand, it has to do with the algorithm (market value of SBD, number of people commenting and upvoting). Posts fluctuate in value and it's not always up!

good point, it's showing a value based in DOLLARS, and dollars fluctuates wrt steem value. So PERHAPS it just so happens to update the value just bc you upvoted it. So it's updating, but not necessarily telling you that your vote is worth some amount. sound about right?

It also has to do with the pool of money available. So yeah, what you said sounds about right, but there are also more factors involved.

You are right. For that reason I have decided to write only when I have enough time to make a good post to be published. With few post, we can get great rewards if these works are of high quality. I will follow you

very informative postings, and very helpful steemian, to create or choose a good content. and I've got the results of the posts I published to steemit

is my post : https://steemit.com/steemit/@steem77/terima-kasih-steemit-thank-you-steemit

Thank you. Sorry, I couldn't read your post but looks well done. Gave an upvote :)
