Coinbase Does It Again... Well Maybe

For all the hate Coinbase has gotten the last few months I have to hand it to them. They are the one company that is truly making mass adoption of cryptocurrency possible.

While the prices of all cryptos are crashing it bit today which seems to be just a normal correction from quick gains. Coinbase has announced it has partnered up with Visa. This new debt type card comes with a $6.50 card issuance fee and supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple XRP and Litecoin.

Just use the app and select which currency you want to use. Swipe your Visa card at an millions of places that accept visa and tada you just paid with cryptocurrency!

This is a big advancement because it eliminates a bottle neck.

The bottle neck on other cards that have come up require someone to add funds to the card first and then they are able to use the card. Almost like a preloaded debit card or gift card.

With this new card from Coinbase it eliminates that extra step/hurdle allowing for easier use.

This could be a major step forward in world adoption of cryptocurrency. I am still questioning how many people will part with their crypto lol

Another important note is that it is currently only available in the U.K. There are currently no plans to support outside of Europe. So while a good thing it still has limits but it is a step in the right direction.

When I read the title I thought they did something bad... again, lol!

This seems like a bigger step following other small steps in the direction of having real and easy mass-level services to pay for everyday products and services with cryptocurrencies. A great way to improve adoption, I'd say.

Yeah its a good step but it is very limited U.K only then spreading into Europe after that but nothing planned on the US side

This is something I woukd definitely use in the future! Although it seems quite limites now, I imagine this is a sort of pilot which could be expanded if demand is present!

So this is not “the Shift Card”? They have been compatible with that card for awhile now but it would be cool to see exchanges having their own crypto debit cards!

Nope not the shift card its a new one. Just limited, I hope it grows into more though. Perhaps more people would end up using it for every day use. Its still not at the point where we go full crypto though I honestly don't think the blockchains can handle it yet.
