Chant

in #writing9 years ago (edited)

Whenever I am in the city, in my favorite haunt Hare Krishna is always chanting. They sit on their mats, burn incense, and chant with the rhythm of NYC. Most times I would just stop for couple minutes then bounce to another part of the park. This time though I stayed and chilled to their hypnotic mantras. It was all consuming and psychedelic. I felt a peaceful abandon. Zen filled the immediate space around them. It was hard to resist even as the city was manic and relentless just seconds away. This is one of the photos I took.

The main purpose of the Hare Krishna mantra is to bring peace and harmony to the world. Of course if you're close to a group chanting the mantra then sure, sit down and feel. But listening to a Youtube recording is just as good, or singing it yourself.

Well time away from the computer is good too :)

Recently I visited the city of Lord krishna... Where he was born and spent his childhood... So much peace is there... And I think you know the name of his city..

Used to eat at their places every day in my Prague days... :)
