Car Problems?
Three days ago, I started work at 5 am, and at 5:30 am my office got a call. It was about my trailer I was pulling, it had no running lights. I did not even notice, because when I started out all the lights were working. So after I dumped the trash, I looked at the obvious things, like the plug. That looked good, and all the other lights worked, so it must be a fuse or a relay. Yaaaaaa, if any one has dealt with fuse issues before, they can be tricky.
Not having the owners manual, I googled it with no success on the first try. So I had dinner, and then hit the books again, or the modern day books, the internet. Found this awesome site.https://www.startmycar.com/ford/f-150/info/fusebox/2009?gclid=Cj0KCQiAkZHTBRCBARIsAMbXLhE2TZXEkoe_tvd-BHeczVqQXVozByyVqzu6BUqg2JyFNJFz1su1sPYaArwFEALw_wcB#anchorfusebox1 This is for my truck, but it has a interactive fuse box. So I wrote down all the relays and fuses and went and checked them. Boom found a 20 amp fuse that was blown, and now all the lights work. This was possible the fastest electrical problem I have fixed. I did this all while the Vikings were getting blown out.
I have been a mechanic for almost 18 years now and you have no idea how many cars have been towed in due to a blown fuse. Now the fun part, finding what caused the fuse to blow. Intermittently blowing fuses suck. I find on a lot of trailers the housings that the bulbs are in get a hairline crack and that allows water to enter the housing. Water + electric = bad news bears.
Ya, I had a boat trailer that I had to unplug every-time I got it wet or blow the fuse
Gotta love electrical problems even better lighting problems glad you got it figured out. I had the same problem on my Chevy Silverado but it would randomly blow the fuse sometimes it would go weeks without blowing, I finally found the problem it was a wire going to one of the marker lights the wire had a bare spot on it and would touch the frame and blow the fuse. So hopefully yours is just the fuse but something made that fuse blow.
I know, and like you I have had tailors with things I could never figure out. It is very frustrating when that happens.
I did this all while the Vikings were getting blown out. LOL
I will look at this site. Thanks for sharing. :)
Ya man, it was a tough game to watch had to get out and do something
Wow, nice work man. You put in the time to figure it out and got it done... I am sure a mechanic could have charged $150 minimum to troubleshoot and then replace the fuse.
Sweet, this guy over here just commenting on your comment.
Don’t be too impressed... that same comment was left on a number of different peoples comments! Ha!

Is this is lighting fuse ......???
@Bigram13 i saw that fuse for the first time
good post upvote me plsce
OMG sorry but that doesn't make you a mechanic. Those are essentials. I fixed my fuel pump once on a road... maybe i should write a book about it. Actually it was a funny story with a skunk and gypsy involved. Anyway good for you! Men need to fix it! You go bear
? was the skunk dressed as a gypsy or?
Naaah. Just the smell of both was the same. Skunk was beneath my car so i couldn't work normal. Gypsy was hitchhiking :)
To run without lights was a pretty risky one for other road users who may not see you approach:
I'm happy for you there was no mishap, and more importantly, you found the solution to the challenge. Kudos!
