These caves are found only during the winter time in a south-eastern portion of Ireland known as Skaftafell. Ice caves are temporary, as they melt in the summer, but are amazing fun to experience and see during the winter. They are formed during the early winter, when the rainwater or melted water from the glaciers builds up into a stream around it, and melts the inner layers of snow. Although the caves can only be entered through the shoreline which they open at, it provides an astonishing background and a lovely foreground.
