Break the will not the CHILD

A royal baby who is heir apparent to one of the most prestigious thrones on the earth was being showcased on his first sovereign tour, when he did what any other child would do, grabbed another child's toy. The royal mother quickly intervened by lovingly returning the toy to the other child.

Whether of royal or poor birth, a child is innately selfish. The "i" "me" syndrome is loudly exhibited even before the child learns to talk. The reason for this is not far-fetched. Since the fall of man, all humans, including children, have inherited the nature of sin and selfishness. David says in psalm 51:5, "Behind, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceived me." Every child by nature is sinful, selfish and self-conceited.

How do you break your child's self-well without injuring him physically, emotionally and spiritually?

• make your child realize that his self-will will do do him more harm than good. As soon as yu observe any bad attitude in him, talk to him about it, and make him aware that such attitude is undesirable.

• set reasonably expectations for your child, and help him to meet Them.

• be consistent in correcting your child.

• punish or reward the child appropriately.

• listen to your child.

• show the child love.

• be a role model to your child.

• never over-indulge your child.
